It's interesting that Roach went totally into his shell after that dropped catrh when he was on 47. Scored about another 5 runs in an hour and a half.

If they were willing to stay positive I think they could have got to needing 30-40 runs off 5 overs and a real chance, but I think they got spooked by the near miss and decided the draw was enough.

Full credit, it's a real gutsy effort to get that draw, but honestly, I think they could have won that.

I’m not sure about that given one wicket lost (and the young kid Layne coming in) probably leads to two in quick time.

He’s in really great shape and his IQ on both ends is a point of difference for this Rockets team. Sengun is an above average offensive rebounder and Capela now on the roster has been a top 5 rebounder in the past. Then Amen is a top guard rebounder. Jabari has improved his overall physicality.

Adams is also a leader that the younger guys seem to respond to.

Keelan, sheesh boy just get the try and then celebrate young fella. Shades of Dagg against the Boks!

Love his game though. Fearless in taking on the line.

    Aus had more speed

We have to adjust to not having Michaela OR Portia.

Did a marvellous job of this in the final

Pouri-Lane’s speed was pretty impressive. And no one could match Miller’s speed to the ruck in the middle of the park. She was everywhere on those attacking rucks. Her engine is unreal.

Before you vote for SFM, ask yourself how good would Finn Russell (and others) look behind their pack?

More mythical speak and the whole forwards are the bestest on the planet and no back could look good without the platter being served for them. I’ve seen Finn Russell play some big games with the Scottish pack looking all sorts of ordinary. Saw Dan Carter play well whilst the AB forwards were off the boil.

It’s possible, it happens more than some think. And backs win matches…..

Pointy end for college too. Some juicy matchups next weekend in the conference championship games.

Big 10 - Ohio State #1 v Indiana #2- The Buckeyes have such a rich tradition and the Hoosiers will be playing their first Big 10 chip game. Botha come into the final undefeated. The Buckeye defense is next level and will have to be on song against a high powered Indiana offence. Ohio Stare by a TD.

SEC - Alabama #10 v Georgia #4 - always billed as one of the biggest football games every year along side the SB, and two old foes will go at it again. I’m picking Georgia by less then a TD

Big 12 - Texas Tech #5 v BYU #12 - the Red Raiders offense will trouble the Cougars defense. The big question will be Bear Bachmeier and if he can get the BYU offence humming. It’s been pretty good other than 3 weeks ago against Texas Tech! BYU in an upset.

ACC - Virginia #18 v Duke - a real surprise packet this season has been Duke. I watched them early in the season and I thought they were a bit up and down, but a solid win against UNC and an out of the bag win against Clemson. Virginia are tough and I expect them to win by 10+

This might be an A N Other winner. I really can't think of anyone that stands out above all others.

The Saffer guy looks to have all the gifts but has not done much so far, very much early days. Does he get it on potential?

    NZ 10s? Nah.

Aus? Do me a favour. It's been a revolving door with the stand in JOC being the pick of a pretty bare cupboard.

Ntamack has been injured and a bit hot and cold.

Russell is too many rocks and not enough diamonds, even if those diamonds are very sparkly.

England? No one has had the reigns for long enough or shown the all round consistency necessary

    Ireland similar.

Wales? Do we even know any of their names?

Argies? Well if they settled on Carreras he would have a good chance, but they haven't so he doesn't

Allan and Garbisi seem to be swapping around too much for either to make a claim.

A N Other it is then.

    Agree on all of that.

The thing with the Springbok kid is that Pollard has still played quite a bit this season at 10. I guess all the rest have been a bit up and down or downright poor, the rugby world are so keen to talk about the next potential great 10. Long way to go for sure.

I thought Kolbe was quite error prone this year. Still an attacking threat but dropped a bit of ball and did some dumb stuff.

France, Italy & Ireland in the Southern series will be tough ask though, with only Italy being an easy game. Wasted 2025.

The more I look into the past in particular the recent past, and see how things played out with performance and results, I am more and more coming to the view that what happens from one year to the next when it relates to test rugby is having less and less relevance.

I would’ve liked to have seen a couple of more players get game time but come next year I think the team will look different any way especially in a couple of key positions. Sort out some of the off field and back room stuff.

Rieko was poor. Was it two bad defensive reads leading to two tries

No. If he hadn't turned in when Holland was coming across the attacker likely wouldn't have passed and his momentum would've got him well over the line.

The other I'd have to recheck - I think that's the one he turned in because it was the "world's best fullback" next to him.

That was a poor read and he didn’t trust the inside (who had the ball carrier covered).

Other than those, he was pretty solid.

Wallabies first European Tour without a win since the 60's

First time they have lost 10 tests in a calendar year

    Home World Cup in 2027

    She’ll be right

Thing about Australia, they're kind of the slinky dog of international rugby. They can oscillate between great and not so great surprisingly quickly.

    Absolutely

They’ll be in the mix in ‘27

If mix means scrambling for a QF position and most likely waiting on points differential of a final pool game, then yes, they’ll be in the mix…..

I never doubt their effort or what natural ability and skill these guys have, but there is something fundamentally wrong with how the game is managed here in Oz and that influences on field performance more often than pulling one out of the hat. Are they a 10 test losing season team on paper - not in my books, but I’m not overly surprised in them losing the ones that they did (other than that first Lions test where I thought they would win).

  • What new players would you like to see in all blacks next year
  • ACT CrusaderA ACT Crusader

@gt12 said in What new players would you like to see in all blacks next year:

I like the idea of him at 12.

However, if they plan to go back to Mo’unga and those loop plays to give him space, we’ll need distribution at 12. Given the actual innovation shown so far, I imagine that back to the future Crusaders style is the golden ticket they are clinging on to….

And what a golden ticket it is.

I recently watched a few replays from the 06 to 09 period. If we take the 06 and 07 seasons it was a really interesting time for the ABs in terms of how we played. Specific to the backs, we were in that post Umaga phase where in the midfield we went through a lot of different players and combos. In 25 matches we used 4 different 2nd 5s and 6 different centres resulting in 12 different midfield combos tried. The combo that played the RWC QF had only played twice previously in tests, once on 06 against the Boks and then in a pool match of the 07 Cup against Italy.

And of those 12 different combos, not once did Nonu and Conrad feature as the 12 and 13 - which became the main combo of the 08 and 09 seasons (18 of the 29 tests). And it wasn’t clear at the end of 07 that the future lied in Nonu and Conrad. But they were selected in 08 and allowed to build test experience together - so much so Nonu only missed one test at 2nd 5 in 2008 (and DC started there). And Nonu only played with Conrad and Kahui.

We’ve tried a few different combos over the last 2 seasons (9 in 27 tests). What the next 2 seasons hold for our midfield, who knows. We have some players there that may or may not feature by the end of it.

If it were me I do like QT in there in either position. There’s some work ons but if Jordie is our 12 then QT would be a good option at 13. LF as a bench option pending improved positioning and reads.

@Chris said in Wales v All Blacks:

One thing that stood out to me and I know it's only Wales.
But how much better we are with D Mac at 10, He kicked long mostly no dinky stupid kicks that give away possession he kicked for grass most of the time.Plus his intent to attack was always good.He was more aware of space and what was around him,
BB is gone as a test player he is not up to it anymore,If the coaches had a brain D Mac and Mounga in the 23 and no BB.

He’s not perfect but his mindset to attack makes a big difference. Love that he wants to kick long when given the chance. I think he only had one kick where I said why. But whether at 10 or 15 he wants to attack. A player like Jordan who was playing more like a 2nd fullback is far more effective when the 10 is attacking too.

Although even the top French side have been leaky on D like us as well
