Update. Hired a mate who is an online coach who I like his training philosophy. He's an ex international footy player and his wife's an ex international in another sport but has done the training under all the guys I like, knees over toes, Kelly starett etc.

Got dexa today i decided to reset the goal as it would be even more unhealthy than bodybuilding already is to try and get to single figure body fat % by the start of August. Would probably need to lose 1-1.2kg a week and hope that 70% is far loss. Otherwise I would be in average stage shape.

Reset the goal to under 100kg (115 ATM) this year, improve my movement patterns/touch my toes/improve aches and pains and body recomp. With the aim to benefit my basketball and life in general. Will allow for a slower cut and hopefully more muscle maintained.

I don't want to commit to a comp later in the year as have baby #2 in sept so consistently to train hard will go out the window with sleep deprivation.

    Watch this space round 2.

Alan Jones is going to have an aneurysm. Even the theatrical Australian coaching roles are going to Kiwis now.

I have to admit not doing anything more than skim some of it. I am always sceptical about such "studies" that come out looking ideological. I have also skimmed a contrary viewpoint - https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/the-china-study-revisited/

A good example from this is the following from the poorly named Denise Minger:

The data do show that cholesterol is positively associated with various cancers, that cholesterol is positively associated with animal protein, and that cholesterol is negatively associated with plant protein. So by indirect deduction they assume that animal protein is associated with cancers and that reducing intake is protective. But if you compare animal protein intake directly with cancer, there are as many negative correlations as positive, and not one of those correlations reaches a level of statistical significance. Comparing dietary plant protein to various types of cancer, there are many more positive correlations and one of them does show strong statistical significance. The variable “death from all cancers” is four times as strongly associated with plant protein as with animal protein. And Campbell fails to mention an important confounder: cholesterol is higher in geographic areas with a higher incidence of schistosomiasis and hepatitis B infection, both risk factors for cancer.

Please note I make no assertions that either viewpoint is correct, just that there is always seemingly "proof" from the other side of things.

@geebee 33y/o 110 ish and 189cm. I think my lifts would be a bit more impressive at sub 100kg
but has been awesome improvement and shows what good programming can do to push yourself.

    Update as ive been MIA.
Have been ho hum on frequency averaging 3 times per week. Have been following as best as possible the bench sessions. Deadlift and squats I have been doing 5/8/ or 10 reps for 4-5 sets for the last few weeks rather than following the program. Squats have been between 120-140kg range and deadlifts 150-180kg. Did a couple of singles at 200kg for DL the other day to make sure I hadn't lost all my strength.

Its testing week this week. Got a 2.5kg improvement which finally got me to 140kg.

Probably wont give DL and squats a go.

Around Oct went away for a week so didnt train. Got back got sick for another week then was weak the following week and didn't lift heavy so basically had 3 weeks off and lost a lot of the foundation from the first few weeks so have been focused more on higher rep ranges.

Have been tossing up changing it up next year and still lifting heavy but may be working towards a body building competition with 9-12 months prep.

    To add a few:

    LFC: Tim Cadwallader (Turbos)

HBHS: Ben Tameifuna (Racing92), Marino Mikaele-Tu'u (Highlanders/Magpies), Jacob Devery (Magpies), Folau Fakatava, Devan Flanders, Lincoln McClutchie, Danny Toala and Kianu Kereru-Symes all have Magpies contracts; I don't have a link, but didn't someone say Josiah Tavita-Metcalfe has a contract as well?
Not sure about contracts, but I think Jeriah Mua has at least an academy contract with BOP, but it could also be a full Steamers contract. I think there was another Hastings player at BOP. Maybe Antonio Mikaele-Tu'u has a contract with Waikato, but not sure.
Kini Naholo has been signed by Taranaki on an academy contract

    NBHS: Pouri Rakete-Stones

St John's: Jonah Lowe (he went there, before going to King's)

There have been quite a few professional players who went to Te Aute College at some point.
I don't know many, but - apart from Cory Jane and Piri Weepu, who have retired - I can think of Billy Rophia (Dax, in France's Pro D2 comp).

Hey team I am organising a stag doo/bucks weekend in June for the AB's vs French test in Dunedin.

Plan is to fly into chch hire vans and drivers and do an undy500 type trip down to dunedin (where many of us studied in yesteryear).

We are doing a costing for some of the lads at the moment. Roughly what would the cost of the tickets be for a June test in Dunners. Exams etc would have finished at least 2 days prior so lots of students won't be there as well.

    Cheers

Tickets for the Wales game two years ago were from between $70-$150 depending on the quality of the seats. Regardless, there aren't really any bad seats at Forsyth Barr (well, comparatively speaking), so if you don't mind being end on, you can get away with some cheapies. Ticket-wise, you can generally select exactly where you want to sit, which helps, especially if you're buying more than 10 (the limit per person).

@higgins Eeeeww, don't say that! I'm so glad he has re-signed with the Landers for 2018, but already fear he won't be back with the Magpies next season. He has "that" age for going overseas. 😞

Has to make you wonder though doesn't it the likes of Ngatai who has been off for so long with concussion symptoms the long term ramifications of it all. I remember living overseas and Sydney Crosby who was the best in the NHL has half a season off with concussion came back got smoked again in the next game. Bigger faster stronger younger means more hits. Unfortunate thing is there is no real predictor on long term effects so only time will tell.

As I mentioned in another thread I've heard James Broadhurst is completely done, no way he'll make a comeback which is a real shame.
