Those calling for Caleb Tangitau on the wing for the All Blacks should go watch the highlights of the Auckalnd VS Manawatu game.

At 7 minutes in he gets comprehensively beaten in the air for the high ball leading directly to a try. Other than that he plays well and is an attacking threat which means this weakness in his game will be overlooked when deciding who gets higher honours.

There’s some big holes in his game without the ball. EOYT maybe.. but it would be a bad move to select him now

The Boks had a try ruled out due to that minor knock on at the back of the ruck so we got out of jail there.

Knock ons were NZ 9 v SA 17

It seemed like the vast majority of the SA knocks were in the first half

There were a few in the second half also when they pushed the attack at pace and some of the passes were behind the receiver.

How hard is it to find backs who can compete under the high ball?

Ryan, at least, understands that improvement needs to happen fast. That's how he ended up in the role, and may be how he ends up out of it.

“I’ll take full responsibility for my area in the set piece. We pride ourselves on that and we weren’t up to standard.”

“That starts with us as coaches. For me, first and foremost, because I’m responsible.”

The Springboks scored 36 unanswered points as the All Blacks' set piece crumbled.

Let's not go down the "Sack Foster - he's the root of all the problems in NZ rugby" road again. We all know how that worked out with Coach Jesus

Take a deep breath, stay calm, identify the problems & their causes and then devise and implement an improvement plan. Maybe some short-term actions - just make sure they aren't kicking cans down the road.

How to (unknowingly?) contradict yourself in two paragraphs.

It's abundantly clear that the root of all problems is the head coach and the moronic minions he's assembled.

They selected these players. Apparently they also developed a game plan and coached them.

How to (unknowingly) completely miss the point. in three. paragraphs...? 🙂

Let's not repeat what didn't work last time. Fix causes not symptoms. . .Make sure they stay fixed.

Is it also possible that our braindead commitment to bad box kicks and having our players doing the equivalent of a yo-yo test sprinting back and forth, with no reward, is causing our drop in level by the end of the game?

I’d love to see Cam Roigard or Tupou Vaa’i made captain - a statement of intent, ala Siya Kolisi being made the Boks captain in 2018, a look to the future rather than going back. It wouldn’t solve everything but it would reset things to an extent.

    @zedsdeadbaby

    New Captain
    New First Five
    New Coach
    New Assistants
    New Board

But none of those things will happen.

Not sure who the best attack coach is in NZ, but I do know Ronan O’Gara could be tempted south with the right offer.

I wonder if O'Gara had a very important influence in the Crusaders, esp for the backs.

We could have fielded a back three of Clarke - Jordie - Jordan and completely nullified their kicking game, but our coaches are too stupid

    Cam Roigard

    Good suggestion.
Seems too introverted and always injured.
But does seem one that would drive very high standards.

I mean.......could it get any worse.
