I guess this was always going to be the reaction when the Boks finally broke free of their professional era oppressors

@Chris he drives our team around like a drunk teenager, whose parents keep giving him the keys to thier once awesome but aging Rolls Royce.
And yet so many posters didn't think it was a good idea to give Plummer a go, because he's too "boring"
.
I sound like a bloody fanboy, but I'm not. I just thought that his skill set and the way he played for the Blues in their winning season suited test rugby
I didn't think Plummer should of got a go, just because I never thought he was good enough. I don't care how exciting or boring a player is, it's how good.
How can you honestly know? He outduelled DMac in the SR final for starters, and played consistently at a high level during that SR season. He deserved a legitimate shot

- Thought Proctor had his best game in black. Not a massively high bar, but saw the glimmerings of promise.
Mate, if his best game includes throwing Kolbe a dog biscuit we’re in trouble.
I'm a fan. But some guys look born ready for the big stage, and I'm not sure he does. Doesn't look any better than Rieko so far, and at least Rieko was a watertight defender
There was one play where he ran up to the attacker, didn't commit, then ran wide to get who the ball was passed to and completely missed the tackle. I was genuinely confused what was going through his head.
BB also had a moment like this when they scored where he just ran around without committing himself to a tackle on a couple of players.

When will nzrfu admit that breaking away from sth African super teams has seriously damaged us..super doesn't prepare us for this type of physical rugby
But South Africa chose to broke away? Not us?
Erroneous.
The reality is, during COVID, travel restrictions from the Hermit Kingdom left SA teams with no real option but to head north. Let’s not pretend they had much choice when NZ and AU cooked up a shared comp and left SA out in the cold.
Mark Robinson should've spent less time nodding along at Jacinda’s Fortress NZ routine and more time safeguarding the future of Super Rugby.
Fuck off, the entire world was fucked at that time including South Africa who's airports were closed to international flights between late March and June 2020 (not sure how the fuck we would have all been playing games - on the PS4).
South Africa had been threatening to leave for a decade, already had teams in Europe, and NZ and Aus shared comp (2021) occurred after the Saffas threw their toys out of the cot (2020). They even claimed they left because it was a slight that we decided to hold our own domestic competition when it was the only competition available to us.
I love the Boks as our old enemy, but Saffa rugby trotting out this bullshit can go fuck itself.

This, 100%. South African rugby wanted more pie because they brought more TV revenue. They didn’t get it within SANZAR, so COVID gave them the excuse they needed to shift north, which as Nepia rightly points out had been threatened for some time (unless they got what they wanted).
South Africa did what it wanted purely for their own needs. That’s fine. But don’t try and dress it up as a result of something the Antipodean cousins did. Own it.

Argentina didn't cry about it. They turned up and made history.

Nah got caught holiday planning.
21 minutes in. That first AB try has me wondering what all the lack-of-skills talk was about

You watched the first act. Act 2 begins shortly. Then act 3 is the entire second half.

Fist half thoughts:
Early on the ABs looked good if a little shaky under line speed pressure.
The first AB try was very nice. The intercept from Kolbe was a lack of eyes-up play by Proctor. Could have scored at the other end but the pace got to him.
Vaai is a dickhead. Not really a profound observation
maybe he should concentrate on pushing at scrums instead of clapping and laughing?
Wiesse is the avatar of rip and tear.
Boks scrum going great guns with 30 gone.
B Barrett looking ponderous and slow. He doesn't like heavy traffic. Failed to exit right before half-time which was a basic bitch error.
New Bok winger is bloody useful.
AB defensive line noticeably crooked. Pushing hard in the first 2 channels but lagging a bit wider.
AB Lineout at 35:50 - wtf happened??
Everyone playing as frantically as a virgin couple on their wedding night. With about as satisfying a result.
Lot of injuries and HIA.
Impression: Boks are ascendant but not finishing their opportunities. ABs are attacking from depth - too deep IMHO - but lacking a bit of subtlety; not much in the way of deception.
Bed time. Second half tomorrow.

@Tim Mils providing two clear examples that BB kicked when he shouldn’t have - first when we were down 7 points and we had acres of space out wide with players aligned for in attack and limited Bok defenders. Terrible play.
Second we are now down by 14 and a miracle chip when we had numbers out wide and space but didn’t use it. Big momentum turner when the Boks recovered the ball and kicked it down the line into their 22.
That’s not team tactics but blinkered play from our 1st 5.
