It makes it even more frustrating when you see teams like the Wallabies who have players like Joseph Sua’ali’i who just turned 22 btw with 10 test caps already.
Another example, Max Jorgensen who has just turned 21 already has 13 Test Caps.
ABs have youth in their team too with experience. Sititi (23), Holland (22), Roigard (24).
The ABs aren't an old team if you take out the over 30s from the squad - Savea, S. Barrett, Tuipolotu, Taylor. ALB and McKenzie are only 30 too.
Aside from Savea and Taylor, which is of these stands above their younger counterparts? And even then, is Savea the future when compared with Sititi?
The Boks have 26 players who are 30 or more in their squad. Age is not a problem in the ABs squad.

@tubbyj I didn't explain my thinking in that post, but my thoughts were that Jordie and Clarke would handle the majority of the high balls, and would use Jordan as a support player to run them back to help deter them from kicking it in the first place

I’d love Razor to just bite the bullet and chuck this backline out against the Wallabies (assuming Hotham is out injured again)
- Kyle Preston
- Ruben Love
- Leroy Carter
- Quinn Tupaea
- Leicester Fainga’anuku
- Will Jordan
- Jordie Barrett
Would like to see how Jordie would go at fullback.
Do people forget we saw how Jordie went as AB fullback? It wasn't good enough to keep him there.
That's just not true. He was world class at fullback, multiple MOTMs including his debut against the Lions. He was moved to 12 reluctantly after months and months of everyone calling for it as we had absolutely no one else to fill the gap at 12. He's had good games there, but I think his skillset is better suited to 15 at test level in the modern game.

If you have a strong defense that concedes less points, and players that can diffuse an opponents strengths (like JB would under the high ball), then games get a lot easier to win.
Helps build pressure too.
For example, how about we pick the best defensive centre we have if the team pattern isn't for him to pass anyway?
Say what you like about Reiko, like JB, he wouldn't have given up like so many others did in that last Test.

Will has 2 bad games under the high ball and everyone goes into a panic
Correct me if I’m wrong but I didn’t see him drop one high ball the other day and his defence was very strong. Still the best outside back in NZ by a long shot.

@Kirwan “One bullshit try” most games lol. Where’s all Reiko Ioanes tries then?
Will Jordan is renowned for scoring trys out of nothing, they are hilariously crazy at times. Bullshit just means that, it was a compliment!

While I agree RI wouldn't have given up, you can't really accuse Proctor of that either given he wasn't on the field for the last 20.

Wasn't singling him out, just pointing out how much Reiko was missed

Fainga'anuku is a terrible defender at wing and 13. Proctor has not been a success but Fainga'anuku would be a step back at 13. If he has any future in the midfield its at 12 where the defensive reads are easier.

Maybe to his fanbois. He was an ok fullback often prone to errors.
I'll grant that maybe he's likely a better fullback now (if the comments about his NH stint are to be believed) as he's matured as a player.

This current crop of players should be made to watch our comeback against Ireland in Dublin 2013. Every time we get under scoreboard pressure, our clowns do silly low percentage hail mary shit. That comeback was all about accuracy and everyone doing their jobs properly, and is what good players do when under pressure: up the intensity and accuracy, not go looking for an individual highlight reel moment. If we were in that same situation now, we'd lose / chip kick the ball away 3-4 times before we hit that many phases. Pretty sure Beauden watched it from on the field, which makes it extra disappointing that he is probably the main culprit.

fucking this! The greatest AB sides just did the basics so well, over and over. This lot ... not so much

We could have fielded a back three of Clarke - Jordie - Jordan and completely nullified their kicking game, but our coaches are too stupid
Not with Jordan there but I agree on the other two.
Next year when we come up against the boks we should be trying to develop a backline so we can have 11. Caleb Clark 15. Jordie Barret and 14. Someone who can catch the high ball.
Sad to say but I think Jordan is the modern equivalent of Joe Rokocoko and Sitiveni Sivivatu. Can't remember him every playing well against the South Africans, certainly not in any of the recent matches. I think as a confidence player he immediately is thrown off when they are the opponents now.
He is such a liability under the high ball against them it is pointless to proceed with him playing out wide for the All Blacks against any opposition. I know this won't be popular given past failures doing it and I am not suggesting it occurs at All Black level but maybe Will Jordan should be dropped and told to go back to Canterbury and focus on learning to play centre and again next season start for the Crusaders at centre for a season in Super rugby and see if he is good enough to make the All Blacks in that position.
Nope disagree totally.
Dump your most potent attacking weapon doesn’t make sense to me no one in the back 3 caught anything so on that basis Carter ,D Mac and Love should all go as well.
We might as well pick 2 metre locks in the back 3 they could catch the high ball but can’t do much with it. -

Asking Bones about Will Jordan is like asking Hilary Clinton about the 2016 US election outcome….
Will is still growing into the full back position at this level. I see a lot of similarities with what happened with Ben Smith and his up and down performances when they shifted him from the right to fullback.
-
Yeah I don’t think you drop Will , he is a try scoring machine about to break Dougies long standing try scoring record with games to spare .
Trys win games .

Did Ben Smith have up and down performances at 15? If anything his average games for the ABs were at midfield, if I recall correctly.
