@canefan I hear you - and I am not necessarily disappointed that they did it, but the fact that they don't have faith in Ratima in a game like that I think is a little concerning.

@No-Quarter yes, it was horrific. And pretty shocking how badly they threw in the towel. I don't think we're as bad as that result though. At 7-0, we were a decent pass away from 14-0 and it's a different match.

Anyway, not saying we're playing well. Just saying some "supporters" have lost the plot.

This bit annoys me and it's something you see on social media comments a lot: the idea that you can't criticise a team and also support them. Criticism means you care enough to expect more. Support is not blind approval.

Went under the radar, but Ratima got about three minutes. I get they rate Roigard, but the All Blacks aren't in a great place when a halfback has to go 77 minutes when, what is in theory our #2 halfback is on the bench.

And how many minutes did Aaron Smith average during that purple patch of AB rugby….

I thought Cam paced himself though. He didn't get into heavy contact, and the only sniping run was late when he scored

Arguably we needed that sniping earlier when the game was in the balance, rather than at the end when were already two scores ahead?

I know we don't want it overdone, but not sure we need it underdone either?

Just to clarify my early post, I think he had a decent game, despite thinking he didn't live up to some of the hype.

Did you wake up from a coma in 2024? The plot was well and truly lost in the Fozzie era, there's not even close to the same vitriol towards Razor despite the Saffa loss.

@Nepia fuck yes the vitriol towards Fozzie was next level, and Chiefs fans were joining in. At least Razor has his merry band of Crusaders supporters to come riding to his defense every now and then.

I've only just got around to watching this. To those who are trying to be positive about the margin, well, that's an Irish team in decline with an early red card, and they've had to chance their arm late.
Worst lineout performance from the usually rock-solid Taylor I can recall. New combinations not working (which fucking gets my dander up when Caleb Clarke says they've just basically had the week off!), but also not-straights.
Beauden Barrett is still being defended and picked when he is making mistakes that would see you dropped at schoolboy level. Great little pop pass to a beautiful line from McKenzie for the try, but the rest was pretty much slop.
The Irish were really mediocre. Poor kicking (apart from the excellent JGP), really poor lineout, poor scrum, lots of knock-ons (that's you James Lowe ya cockhead).
I wasn't surprised the card turned red, but I think it's really harsh. The Irish guy didn't think he was making a tackle at all. BB didn't think he was getting the ball. The Irish captain was right, the pass was forward, which put them both in a collision they weren't prepared for. It was accidental, and I'd be much happier if that was yellow.
One last comment - the whinging on here from NZers, and the sense of victimhood has become a goddamned fucking disgrace. Especially when combined with constantly calling the Irish out for exactly that. I know it's frustrating that we're a bit shit, but harden up you bunch of fluffybunnies, you're embarrassing.

Just thinking about that YouTube video.

After a period of two or three years with all us old die hards saying shit like "it's just rugby, "he didn't mean to", "game's gone soft" how often do you see these incidents now? Judicial and Officiating clamp don has worked.

By the same token I expect the clamp down on the head impacts will start to have the same effects and players will learn not to put themselves in danger like Beirne did. Don't be upright, don't brace, don't lead with your shoulder without wrapping...

Maybe I didn’t see all the relevant comments, but the key theme on the RC was that it should be red based on history and current interpretation. Im not sure that anyone here really wants those sorts of things to be red, but we need some consistency.

I personally thought YC was about right.

Not ideal-I didn't have live access for this game and following the match thread was like a game-who are they complaining about, what is the score, are they talking about something now or 5 minutes ago?

But apart from playing who's called whom a fluffybunny games, yes, much rather have watched it at the time. But I've noticed for AB games when I watch it after hearing the score I notice things more than when I'm watching it as it plays-the blinkers of fandom I guess.

    @nostrildamus

I didn't say it, but I was extremely confident we would win this game.
For several reasons, all big picture, which I wont bother you with.
I leave the minutiae to the rest of the ferners.

And I too did not watch the game until after I read the thread.
And glad I did, because I had my finger on the fast-forward button to get rid of all that officiating shite.
Started slow and finished fast; I liked that.

Ironically (because the next teams are lower ranked than the Irish) less confident about the games coming; but that is more about us than the opposition.

We are going to need our first choice halfback to play big minutes if not the whole game from time to time.

And probably correctly so. Robertson had to have a little time to get into it. Foster had years of below acceptable results. Personally, I think that time is now over for the new regime, but I was prepared to cut him some slack he had / has a lot to fix from Foster. At least Razor has won things before, Foster couldn't even win Super and yet Rennie did it at the same franchise as soon as he left. (My attitude towards the Foster years would have mellowed only slightly had he pulled off a miracle at the end there, but only slightly).

That loss in Welly for Robertson though, fuck me...

Happy with the Chicago win, winning ugly is winning, which is fine by me (for now).

On the BB high shot / red card, I couldn't believe that Roigard threw that pass at all - even if it he had managed to not throw it forward, how the fuck is our gameplan to have Beauden taking crash ball off 9 into forwards?!!

And I'm sure it's been mentioned ad nauseum in here, but how Beauden didn't have to do an HIA, I'll never know. The HIA process was a debacle all game.

what are the chances the red card gets rescinded?

Yeah, people trying to justify a straight up shoulder with tucked elbow by saying he wasn't expecting it. Obviously the same people who line up to buy something at the shop then when they get to the counter dig around their handbag for half an hour for their wallet because they weren't expecting to have to pay.

A seasoned professional in one of the best teams in the world wasn't expecting to have to tackle whilst advancing in the defensive line. Give me a break.
