Every time i sse the final minutes of that match, i look at a different nz player. They all did a great job, even Will Jordan.

How many bad games can Ardie Savea and Beauden Barrett keep having in Black?

I can't remember any of our players in the past escaping scrutiny for such consistently disappointing performances.

Thats the issue - there is a cognitive dissonance across the whole of NZ (& world) rugby media and consumers - people genuinely watch these guys play and their branding just over rides any actual critical thought about how these guys should be playing

    So true.

Non NZ rugby media in particular give effusive praise to them both based mostly on reputation.

It's weird how in some quarters, actual form is a complete irrelevance when judging players. It's all vibes and highlights from years ago. Ardie was absolutely superb in Super rugby but he's not had a great test season but given his profile and PR he will never face all that much scrutiny.

I'm not even hating, it's just funny how in a professional workplace you can get away with so much based on your work performance a long time ago.

I think it strange, we all rightfully have opinions on most players, but if writers in the media have them different to us, we dismiss them, and suggest it's vibes and reputation. I make no secret ,I would at this stage pick BB (just) and certainly would Ardie. I admit I would like perhaps Ardie as captain, and perhaps wonder if we are better off with Scooter being dropped. Just my opinion of course, but if all were fit, I think my starting locks would be Holland and Vai'i with PT on bench, and Lord being in squad etc. But I also admit I know no more than anyone else , and just look at what I would want in my players.

Fair point, cant argue with that.
My brain still thinks rugby is a 15 man game with oranges at half time but that's just me.

Yep it's hard to change huh BC, just you nic puts you in the same era as me of how we see rugby. lol
One of reasons I can't get into every test seeming for some about building towards one or 2 games every 4 years. I still (I know stupidly) believe every test is or should be important.

Razor has put all his hopes in RM being the man for us in 2027. If he isn't, he should be sent packing as an AB coaching failure

33 year old Richie Mo'unga isn't going to be better than the likes of Sacha FM and Willemse.

I doubt whether there anyone in world at this stage looks like being better than Sacha. he looks the scariest good 10 I can remember seeing for a bloody long time. Only thing we have to wait and see if he maintains it or god help the rest of world keeps getting better. But that's all part of the beauty of our game, seeing new players coming through from wherever they from.

@BerniesCorner I want Parker in 23, and think it makes sense for him to start. Wally is brilliant to come off bench at about 50.
Flexibility to end with SSP or SSL depending on how things are panning out.

Nice idea but he needs to actually throw this much vaunted "size" around and make an impression. He was "Rueben Thorne at his absolute worst" against Ireland.

That said, he seemed to be a factor in our matching the Board pack in Boks I.

Fair to say our loose forwards as a unit (whoever is picked) struggle for consistency at the moment. Even our tight forwards have issues in this regard. I recall Holland being described as anonymous in a game or two, when all of the forwards were poor.

Nice. The comment was not meant to directed as a criticism of him per se, but more that the forward pack as a unit can be quite inconsistent from game to game. Come to think of it we can lack consistently during one 80 minute game.... 🤔

Flexibility seems a bit optimistic. I think I'm right in saying that in the last game we had 2 loosies who had a 10 minute rest, and we left the guy who hadn't had a rest on, and subbed the guy who had just had his rest?
