I am told after Taylor's 100th in Argentina - only the Crusaders players in the squad went to his room to drink with him. I cannot say who the source is so take it as you will.

i find this a little hard to believe given Taylor is a 10-year hundred-plus cap AB who has played for years with a huge number of the squad no matter where they are from. Given this is his 3rd AB coaching group, even if this turned out to be accurate, i would find it difficult to pin on the current environment. Maybe he's just a prick?

If it was a select invite event, having only Crusaders in the room to celebrate becoming an All Black test centurion would seem a little odd..?

Without this becoming a purple monkey dishwasher event, I did hear there were more than just crusaders, but predominantly crusaders, a few others did turn up, but a lot abstained due to certain coaches attending.

So slight difference but the core message was the same

I was there and was responsible for not passing on the invite to all the players, but extending it to the coaching staff.

my bad, if you're doing the invite, you can do what you like!.. i had just re read the initial post that you had replied to saying it was just crusaders.. I just tagged on, wasn't having a go at your comment

although I would imagine if you were inviting crusaders it would likely be to watching themselves burn.. could be fun 😉

So we're back to the cliques of the Mitchell years (and previous) then.

Cliques yes. I can tell you last season was the exact same.

How many All Blacks would make a World XV at the moment?

would Holland be in the top 5 worldwide locks? Maybe not now I think about it.

With all this great “insight”, I guess jegga’s breakfast with ABs has officially been surpassed

Joe Moody, Liam Squire, Jerome Kaino and Damien McKenzie if memory serves.

sure, but it's pretty grouse stuff bro - get in!

Is that Hawkeye? Do the ABs have the superpowers of Hawkeye minus the archery set? Explains a lot!

Brad Thorn made the news when he turned it down. Is there any other cases of guys actually saying no ?

    Stormin Norman.
He didn't say no; he just walked out.

The problem is, the lack of visible signs that those in charge see it the same.

That is the very, very concerning thing to me.

In more positive news, this season is nearly over.

Next year, things will change - because they have to. David Kirk won't put up with any bullshit. Either this coaching team turns it around, The assistants go and things improve, or Robertson is sacked by the EOYT.

I don't really see any other scenarios.

Just listened to Scott Hansen's press conference.

The guy sounds like a politician and a total buffoon. Hopefully he's the next one to leave the All Blacks followed by Razor and Ryan.

Bloody hell this thread has got a bit spicy ,

If the rumours are true we are fucked , it’s hard for a coach to turn that stuff around

@kiwiinmelb in this woke new world, does NZR have the courage to be brave?

When is it too late for nzr to deal with Razor if we dont see changes with his coaching entourage?

I mean with the SA tour looming, keep this shit up, it could be ugly.

One thing I will add, is calling Dalton a "fringe AB" is the height of absurdity. He has been the best 7 in NZ for years, and was better than Cane in Cane's final year. I didn't have a problem with them starting Cane though, he was the AB captain, an absolute fucking warrior on the field (Christ what we'd do to have a player like him on the field right now), and was playing to a high standard himself.

But like Cane was the obvious successor to McCaw, Dalton was the obvious successor to Cane. But then fat fuck Ryan and comb over Robertson got put in charge, and he hasn't been sighted since. He has been absolutely screwed by these clowns, and worse still it's the ABs that have suffered as a result.

I see horseshit comments on here like "If Dalton is our saviour then we are really in trouble!", which is so fucking stupid because a) nobody ever claimed that, because no one player in a team of 23 will ever be a fucking "saviour", and b) it seems to indicate you are fine with the coaches NOT picking the best players in the country?? Why the fuck would you be OK with that? NZ is a small country with a small player base, we cannot in a million years refuse to pick our best players and then expect to be able to compete with huge countries like SA and England.

For fucks sake just put JJ in charge to see if he can salvage something from this mess before the SA tour and subsequent RWC.

I’m familiar with a few NZ journo/broadcaster types but don’t know much about Mark Watson. He doesn’t pull any punches here. Love the passion, he’s on the verge of tears.

I said it before, the more I hear the more I think his position is untenable. Rip the scab clean off, install JJ to try to rebuild the spirit of the group and some accountability before it's too late

This is the problem I have with the Paps scenario and by extension Akira (don't tell me he wouldn't have stayed if they asked) and Hoskins. He was given work ons and he appears to have done what they asked. But he still doesn't get picked and lots of fans would base their opinions on whether he should get another shot or not purely on past performance. But if we did that we would have never seen the best from rodders or Kaino, who were both dropped and told to go away and work on stuff. I think we can all agree they ended up having pretty good AB careers the second time around

Why do we have Sititi replacing Parker when they are completely different players? Even the Chiefs were replacing similar for similar in Finau for Parker.

I think Robertson decided at the start of this year that he wanted to have 1 x lump + Savea + Sititi. The latter two being considered too good to leave out. Because of that, his lump needs to be a first class lineout target, a defensive enforcer and effective ball carrier in heavy traffic, and have a massive workrate hitting rucks and making tackles. Unfortunately for us that player doesn't exist.
Sititi post-injury and shift to 8 and a tighter role underwhelmed. So he's now gone with Lakai to start and Sititi on the bench, but this changes little as Lakai is predominantly a carrier too, and not the biggest guy, and not a lineout target.

Parker can't last 80 even at Super level, so he has to be replaced. We aren't clever enough / too risk averse to have 2 loosies on the bench. And as per above, Sititi too good to leave out.

Sititi isnt too good to leave out. Hes been inconsistent. What did he do in the weekend?

    Zero tackles in 26 minutes.

And two important penalties conceded, one being the coup de grace.
