@MN5 Parker was better today than Holland was, to be fair... You only notice Holland because he's jumping in lineouts.

You’ve really missed what I was saying

    In what sense?

Cos Scott Parker never played. I think Simon Parker did though.

Next you'll be saying Reeves didn't score a try.

Aaron Leonard Brine got a farewell match too.

    Don't be salty.

    Bit chippy tonite...

It all started with the comment from @Mr-Fish too. This is not a coincidence

I can see what your angling at..

I was using the possessive - referring to his angling (a noun). e.g. you might ask Robertson: "where your coaching at?" :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

In any decent coaching regime all five would be surplus to requirements and jettisoned.

Whilst it may seem harsh to drop two Barretts at once its worth pointing out theres another one who'll make it. The Whettons never had that luxury.

We should send Arikinui Proctor and LF over as well too then if that's the case. πŸ˜‰

Yeah he did, although I was just being bitchy pointing out the proposed messiah's at centre didn't really perform to the standard of the hype attributed to them.

Jesus, is Tamati Ellison everyone's best friend in the media?

Jamie Wall on Devlin today, interesting segment. Explains that he doesn't see Razor under threat, but does see assistants under threat. Fair enough.

OK, where are we having trouble?
He says set piece and attack and fails to mention how shit much of our defense is.. incredible.

Some very fascinating tidbits though, which is essentially that journalists are more shut out of trainings, they can't actually see the coaches doing their jobs so need to infer it from quotes. He discusses the Saders, indicating that Razor's involvement tends to be more personal with individual players.

He talks about some of the potential for that style to not work at the international level.

He also talks about how it seems to be effecting him (Razor) and that Razor doesn't like to explain himself when they lose.

He refers to the Eden Park result as being crucial, which it was, and suggests that they need to learn to 'put that in a bottle' and roll it out every week, which ignores that they haven't been able to do it since.

is our set piece particularly bad?....i think almost everything could do with improvement but didn;t think set piece had stood out, especially since holland came in

We've had various issues. He discussed some of them (some difficulty at the line out, especially), but it was really strange that he focused on that area first, even ahead of our attack, and didn't mention defense at all...

Lineout generally good and can be a genuine threat - although that threat seems too often to be inconsistent within games (see England a couple of weeks ago where we picked off copious England ball in the first half but barely bothered to put up a contest in the second half). Scrum, generally good but not at all a threat to opposition ball and prone to late capitulations in big matches (see Boks at Eden Park and England a couple of weeks ago).

In short, definitely room to improve the set pieces and, given the tight 5 stocks at the moment, we should really be aiming to turn the set piece into a genuine weapon rather than simply a re-start.
