    The five ABs are:

    S Barrett
B Barrett (and he is a fanboy).
    Ioane
    ALB
    Reece

    Can see why they're targeted.

    But ...
I suspect SB still has more to give while we transition to the new breed, just not as skipper. But there are 6 test class locks currently in the mix (and Beehre is the new great white hype).

And both ALB and RI looked sharper than wunderkind Proctor. Suggest the latter has a bit to prove as well.

@booboo Ioane could also return a better player after spending some time with some good coaches 😉

We should send Arikinui Proctor and LF over as well too then if that's the case. 😉

Yeah he did, although I was just being bitchy pointing out the proposed messiah's at centre didn't really perform to the standard of the hype attributed to them.

Jesus, is Tamati Ellison everyone's best friend in the media?

Jamie Wall on Devlin today, interesting segment. Explains that he doesn't see Razor under threat, but does see assistants under threat. Fair enough.

OK, where are we having trouble?
He says set piece and attack and fails to mention how shit much of our defense is.. incredible.

Some very fascinating tidbits though, which is essentially that journalists are more shut out of trainings, they can't actually see the coaches doing their jobs so need to infer it from quotes. He discusses the Saders, indicating that Razor's involvement tends to be more personal with individual players.

He talks about some of the potential for that style to not work at the international level.

He also talks about how it seems to be effecting him (Razor) and that Razor doesn't like to explain himself when they lose.

He refers to the Eden Park result as being crucial, which it was, and suggests that they need to learn to 'put that in a bottle' and roll it out every week, which ignores that they haven't been able to do it since.

We've had various issues. He discussed some of them (some difficulty at the line out, especially), but it was really strange that he focused on that area first, even ahead of our attack, and didn't mention defense at all...

Lineout generally good and can be a genuine threat - although that threat seems too often to be inconsistent within games (see England a couple of weeks ago where we picked off copious England ball in the first half but barely bothered to put up a contest in the second half). Scrum, generally good but not at all a threat to opposition ball and prone to late capitulations in big matches (see Boks at Eden Park and England a couple of weeks ago).

In short, definitely room to improve the set pieces and, given the tight 5 stocks at the moment, we should really be aiming to turn the set piece into a genuine weapon rather than simply a re-start.

that has to be a fucking wind up surely??

"The emerging All Blacks core, Cam Roigard, Shaun Stevenson, Caleb Clarke, Folau Fakatava, Samipeni Finau, Josh Lord, Fabian Holland, Sam Darry, Asafo Aumua, Will Jordan and others, is stacked with players who will peak between 2027 and 2031."

Include two guys who don't even make squads, a guy who is clearly a fringe player now, and Will Jordan who is 27 and has 50+ tests under his belt??

This revisionist bullshit is all in your head. No one hyped Proctor, no one saw him to the manor born - but fuck, at least give him a go. Which they did, thankfully. Considering Proctor took many years to look any good at super level, it's not a huge surprise and guys on a similar trajectory (like Plummer) could well have been the same, be nice to actually know though.

@KiwiMurph thats the thing, Parsons has a very analytical eye when it comes to rugby, when he was playing they had him on the radio in a regular spot talking and he was always very insightful, similar to O'Halloran.

Having only listened to a couple of episodes recently, Parsons seems like he's trying to come up with excuses for how poorly the All Blacks are playing. He points to random statistics or moments in the game and tries to make out that's all that's wrong. 'They would've won if it hadn't been for that one little thing there.'

@KiwiMurph thats the thing, Parsons has a very analytical eye when it comes to rugby, when he was playing they had him on the radio in a regular spot talking and he was always very insightful, similar to O'Halloran.

There's a thread dedicated to that theory....

that has to be a fucking wind up surely??

"The emerging All Blacks core, Cam Roigard, Shaun Stevenson, Caleb Clarke, Folau Fakatava, Samipeni Finau, Josh Lord, Fabian Holland, Sam Darry, Asafo Aumua, Will Jordan and others, is stacked with players who will peak between 2027 and 2031."

Include two guys who don't even make squads, a guy who is clearly a fringe player now, and Will Jordan who is 27 and has 50+ tests under his belt??

That's so bad, we shouldn't really bother bagging it, but where to start?

Shaun Stevenson isn't even in the country. And, he's 29, ancient by NZ outside back standards.

Then, Aumua - who is 28 - is included as one of the emerging 'core' but Samisoni Taukei'aho - who is the same age - is not. Other much younger and much better (Williams, Newell) players in the tight also don't get a mention.

Then we have Will Jordan who is also at the age when his production is historically likely to drop. Still around in 2031 when he is 33? Better get a lot fucking better as a game driver then...
