My preference is Rennie head coach. Joseph as forward coach.
Foster in charge of the backs and diabetes management.The Gregor Paul article is interesting but just poses a pipe-dream While he'd clearly be a big asset in managing players/people and experience, I doubt we'll see Foster back.
Might be good for NZR to push for an up-and-coming coach with minima international/Test experience as an Assistant somewhere? Need an NZR-run development path for coaches.

Actually, I don't mind if Foster is coach. But not of the forwards. Or the backs. Or the other coaches.

@Victor-Meldrew Director of coaching. Uncle Joe would be perfect come next year. Keep the best coaches either in NZ or in developmental jobs abroad - not rocking up for England, Oz or SA. Wales will happily take them all.

They've actually done that previously with someone I know. But trying to juggle the career development of the overseas candidate with the plans of the incumbent is easier said that done.
Had Hansen left after the Lions it might have been better for development, but they could hardly turn him down when he decided to stay on a couple of more years.

His plan was to leave. NZR asked him to stay. He agreed in the end - but I think it turned out that his original call was a good one.
There's also been bad luck for Hansen. Losing the last warm up game at the RWC2019 was a real blow. He was cooked as a coach by then, but it really didn't help that team.

NZR should have someone that is in contact with NZ coaches, monitoring their progress, reaching out after a good/bad result.
Keeping NZR front of mind, ultimately we want/need these guys to learn, and come back and impart different 'learnings' on our players, whereas the situation we are in it seems a huge distrust of the process and organisation.

I think it is more than a little optimistic to think that the NH sides are forever going to welcome our coaches to use their top teams as a stepping stone.

I agree with all of that. I just wasn't sure what the "losing the last warm up game" in 2019 was referring to.

I don't think so - RWC2019 our last pool game was washed out from memory, by a nasty cyclone. That obviously threw all the prep plans into disarray - and then we wound up in a tough QF with Ireland before shitting the bed against England.
Found it on WIki - the game vs Italy was washed out.

That 2019 semi and the Boks game in Wellington last year should be required viewing by all coaches and players at the start of each season - starting this year.

They've been welcoming our coaches and players for decades and they see the obvious benefits it's had for them. I don't see that changing in a hurry.
