That worked the last 2 times didnt it

@Dan54 He may need to be assured it's a genuine search and not a method of legitimising a decision already made.
NZR has form.
So examples? All I say whenever I wanted job, and saw them I applied, never once waited for the company to ring me. But then again I just an old bugger and never felt I was that entitled. I will say any coach who wants AB gig must know it's up for grabs, and he can also message/email/ring NZR to ask can't he?

So we have Liam Napier, Gregor Paul and Marc Hinton all believing Rennie to be a better choice, yet, the Liam Napier article says he hasn't yet formally applied.
Get on it Kirk!! (and Dave)Well if hasn't applied he doesn't want the job. Last thing we need is someone halfhearted just because a couple of journos like him.
Holy overreaction batman.
Just because he hasnt formally applied yet (very particular wording by Napier) doeant mean he's not interested
Rennie has a current job at the moment and is no doubt busy.
The process was only confirmed a few days ago.
He may well be formally applying this weekend
Yep I not talking about who has applied, I talking about one coach has suppoedly whinged because he personally wasn't rung?

At least one decorated coach, who fits the criteria, says he has not heard directly from NZ Rugby. He was miffed.
“What’s wrong with just picking up the phone?’’ he asked.Anyone get the irony of a decorated coach asking with what's wrong with picking up the phone? Is he unable too himself? Or do these things only work one way.
Precious much?
Yep seems to be from someone who considers himself above actually having to apply.
I mean, they would normally have their agents taking calls or making calls on their behalf around potential roles.
I am sure the agency that represents a coach would apply on their behalf.
I am also sure that NZR would have made overtures to coaches who would be in their shortlist letting them know they want them in the process.
I guess a coach who has had no initial encouragement realises he is not a coach that is top of mind for NZR for AB coach.

yep well I read one report where coach was upset he only got an email. I actually think these are just beat ups from media, or as I say we got some precious coaches.

There's also been bad luck for Hansen. Losing the last warm up game at the RWC2019 was a real blow. He was cooked as a coach by then, but it really didn't help that team.
Are you mixing up RWC 19 and RWC 23? Are you thinking of the 2023 match vs Boks in London 2 weeks before the tournament?
I don't think so - RWC2019 our last pool game was washed out from memory, by a nasty cyclone. That obviously threw all the prep plans into disarray - and then we wound up in a tough QF with Ireland before shitting the bed against England.
Found it on WIki - the game vs Italy was washed out.

Edit: I wasn't clear -- was thinking of warmup for the knockout stages
That 2019 semi and the Boks game in Wellington last year should be required viewing by all coaches and players at the start of each season - starting this year.
What about the Twickenham thrashing? It was more like the 2019 semifinal where we where thrashed and toyed with by the boks from start to finish. We would have been nil-ed if not for Cameron Riogard coming on briefly and showing he should be the bench option in the RWC but Foster and Schmidt decided that Finlay Christie was the better option

A shockingly bad decision right up their with appointing red card Sam captain.
Here is the link to highlights if you have forgot

I watched the highlights you provided, read and reread your post, parsed the words for additional insight. It inspired me. So I found the whole game. Spent the day taking notes.
My overall conclusion from all this analysis was Razor Ray sucked as a coach and deserved to be sacked by Kirk.

I'd love to seem them all together but it's very important who is head coach vs who is assistant. The head coach sets the tone. Of course it won't be Foster but Rennie as head coach sets a very different tone to Joseph.
My preference is Rennie head coach. Joseph as forward coach.
Foster in charge of the backs and diabetes management. The Gregor Paul article is interesting but just poses a pipe-dream While he'd clearly be a big asset in managing players/people and experience, I doubt we'll see Foster back.
Might be good for NZR to push for an up-and-coming coach with minima international/Test experience as an Assistant somewhere? Need an NZR-run development path for coaches.
We should encourage potential future AB coaches to take HC jobs in the NH to gain experience as a sort of finishing school before coming home to take the top job, rather than them leaving and never coming back because they think the door to the ABs is closed
I think it is more than a little optimistic to think that the NH sides are forever going to welcome our coaches to use their top teams as a stepping stone.
Wales say hold our beer
Think we need someone to run a strategy for developing coaching talent and ensuring there's a pathway to an AB gig.

Exhibition game. Things like RWCs & winning Rugby Championships are far more important.

Yes, we do. For a large part of pro rugby, we couldnt keep hold of our coaches due to demand and lack of jobs and $€¥’£’s in NZ
Now that seems to be slowing down, due to europe/SA driving how the game develops.
We do need pathways and it looks as though it will have to include overseas experience. That makes it harder to control, manage and retain but they are going to have to try because if a 7 time super champ fails as AB coach, that pretty much kills off npc/super/Ab coach pathway
