2020 looking exciting: lots of good Props, all the Hookers re-signed, Whitelock and Cane available as captains, a plethora of backline talent.

    Two major areas for development:

    1. The lineout. With Retallick and Read unavailable and Whitelock probably needing a rest after the Japanese season, the lineout will need reconstruction.

    2. Who plays 8? If it is Ardie then who plays 6?

@cgrant Luke Jacobsen isn't a starter for the Chiefs. He's not going to make the ABs.

With Reece and Bridge probably securing a seat for Japan, and with the likes of Leicester Fainganuuku and Will Jordan looming, the All Blacks will have plenty of options in the wings. That is why I'd like Rieko Ioane to become a centre as Goodhue will likely play most of his games for the Crusaders next year as a 2nd five in order to let the 13 jersey to Ennor. A backline like this one could be deadly : B. Barrett - Reece - Ioane - Goodhue (or ALB) - Bridge - Mounga.

You're already on the Blues coaching staff, Tana

Edit: but seriously, it's possible in the future. Short term I think we just let him concentrate on getting back to being the best winger in the world

Think Goodhue is more of a classic 13 in the shape of Conrad Smith than a 12.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Laumape developing his skills a la Nonu and partnering him long term. He might not make the RWC2019 cut but he gets excellent reviews from the TWM on his attitude and work ethic and the def. think he has a future in Black.

I'm not convinced that Alby is a 12 right now and seems to play his best games at 13

Always difficult to pick future teams, form fluctuations, and as we see so often in Nz , freak talent emerges from nowhere and we ( or I do based overseas ) think where did this guy come from.

I’d be inclined to leave goodhue at 13, agree with the thoughts, natural 13s are difficult to find .

@Higgins If you put the word "Māori" before "All Blacks", then the answer to your question might be 'yes', although I've never seen him play at 12. He has to stay in one piece first, though.

@cgrant again with the Goodhue to 12 nonsense. Do you hate him? He's a brilliant centre. Outstanding, looking like following in Connie's footsteps. But sure put him at 12 to accommodate a guy who is an excellent winger.

Why wouldn't you just put Ennor at 12 if he's such a good midfielder?

It is just because Robertson has used this combo this year and with Jordan, Fainganuuku, Bridge, Reece and Mateale in his squad, I guess he will play Ennor in midfield, with the 13 jersey. This is not my wish, it's a guess. BTW, Goodhue has played very well a few times as a 2nd Five for Northland.

He goes ok for Petone as well if that is a further endorsement.

Well in that case, Cam Incledon strikes me as a bloody good utility for the RWC squad.

@sparky Alex Nankivell is worth watching as a midfield option - he's become a very good player over the past 12 months.

@Chris-B Chiefs biased but I agree. Played his heart out this year for a shit Chiefs team.

If the ABs are set on the Beau-unga combo then it would be awesome to see DMac have a crack at the Sevens for the Olympics. You wouldn't want to give him the tiniest bit of space.

@Crucial Maybe but Beauden will be away next year for the most part and Damo will probably want to prove himself in his return from injury. Would be cool to see though.
