Laumape has done enough to deserve a chance at 12. Who says he can't further develop his passing and kicking skills in an AB enviroment. Thats the great thing about rugby everyone's different.

His kicking is fine, even his passing us fine - it's pulling all his skills together at once and still keeping his vision plus developing a bit more awareness that is the goal here.

As I pointed out elsewhere, Nonu was a lot younger than 27 when he started his "journey".

So he can do it I reckon, just needs to do it quick.

Edit: I reckon Nonu prolly received a heck of a lot more dusruspict too.

The funny thing with Nonu now being looked at as a great ,

He got the gig at 12 in the first place because the cupboard was bare ,

Mauger and McAlister had gone , it was him or nothing pretty much at the time ,

if they had stayed , maybe it would never have happened

Is everyone forgetting about Tu'inukuafe? I know he has been injured but he is odds on to start at LH for the NI team, and if he returns to fitness and form would be a good option from the bench.

I’m unsure about reiko in the midfield at international level ,

But I would still really like to see what it looks like

@Bovidae hasn't played much this year, and hasn't shown much form I don't think. LIke BB - a high ceiling, but not at that level at the moment

If Laumape is out for a while there is a good chance Rieko will now be at centre in the NI vs SI game. His combination with ALB in that game will be interesting to watch, thinking ahead to the ABs.

Not a whole lot different from World Cup, notable that Ardie must be in the side was tempted to have him at 7 and Cane at 6 but they can do that when Sotutu comes on. Mounga is the best 10 in NZ and then daylight. BB probably has to play himself out of the 15 jersey.

Haven’t read the last few pages but has anyone commented on how slow Jordie is to turn? Was like sick Jonah with a brick tied to his ankles.

I had my little rant about Goodhue being solid but possibly a bit overrated at 13, and there was a bit of expected push back. But fuck me, if he is our best option at 12 then things are looking a bit shit for the year

Marc Hinton’s All Blacks: Jordie Barrett, Sevu Reece, Rieko Ioane, Jack Goodhue, George Bridge, Richie Mo’unga, Aaron Smith, Hoskins Sotutu, Sam Cane (c), Ardie Savea, Patrick Tuipulotu, Sam Whitelock, Ofa Tuungafasi, Dane Coles, Joe Moody.

Reserves: Codie Taylor, Aidan Ross, Nepo Laulala, Mitchell Dunshea, Shannon Frizell, TJ Perenara, Beauden Barrett, Anton Lienert-Brown.

Richard Knowler’s All Blacks: Will Jordan, Mark Telea, Jack Goodhue, Ngani Laumape, George Bridge, Richie Mo’unga, Aaron Smith, Hoskins Sotutu, Ardie Savea, Lachlan Boshier, Patrick Tuipulotu, Sam Whitelock (c), Ofa Tuungafasi, Codie Taylor, Joe Moody.

Reserves: Dane Coles, Alex Hodgman, Tyrel Lomax, Mitchell Dunshea, Sam Cane, TJ Perenara, Anton Lienert-Brown, Beauden Barrett.

I had my little rant about Goodhue being solid but possibly a bit overrated at 13, and there was a bit of expected push back. But fuck me, if he is our best option at 12 then things are looking a bit shit for the year

But he plays for the crusaders - must be awesome, right?

I'm a huge Goodhue fan - but he's not been in good form this season I don't think. Particularly not at 12.

I don't recall him playing 13 at all this year, certainly not in SRA.

@Tim Most interesting comment in that is

"We have lots of guys who are a good physical size, who are great toilers who roll their sleeves up and get stuck in but in our view we can’t have everybody of the same ilk.

“We needs some contrast in that.’’

To me that reads that they are really looking for a Whitelock replacement or a ball playing lock.

Guzzler was both a lump and a ball player.

I agree that options are limited at the moment. TripleP is improving but needs to add more strings to his bow. Looks like we may have to squeeze as much out of Sam as possible.
