You just have to be wary of Graeme Hick syndrome.
Yeah he certainly didn’t have the career that was expected of him, debuting alongside Graham Gooch, Alec Stewart and Robin Smith who were all far better test players despite not dominating at first class level to the extent Hick did.
I’m just wondering how long we can ride this wave as fans and when/if the next generation of Hows/Redmonds/Papps/Marshall ( either or )Fultons comes in.......
...and David White's. Let's not forget David White, because I hold him largely responsible for this wave.
Not because he's a gun administrator, but because his administration (along with Spark Sport) is responsible for me not being able to watch it. Presumably, once I can watch again, we'll return to dross.

It was surprisingly easy to suspend my subscription, just one click of a button.
I honest thought it’d be way harder, as most companies don’t like to make it easy for you to quit their services.
Making it easy to pick and choose when I want to be signed up most certainly means I’ll be back.

It's probably been raised before, but they aren't doing the WTC. I think Sky still has rights to all ICC tournaments. All a bit of a mess really.As a side note did anyone notice if Conway got his residency issue sorted? That's NZ residency, not eligibility to play for us obviously. It was going to take 8 months to get it through and won't be allowed back into the country unless he has it.

Wish I knew many years ago that all you needed to do to get residency fast tracked was play for the Black Caps. My wife might have been good enough to make the team at the time too (a reflection on the cricket team not my wife's cricketing ability). -

I genuinely wonder how the NZers , and English and Indians, will get out of India and to England. How many options will be available by the time IPL ends?
Where will they have to do quarantine?
Logistical nightmare, some administrators will be earning their money.

@rapido Yeah that was the reason for moving WTC to South Hampton. Has it's own hotel and training grounds so the players can be in their own bubble and still practice. The England matches aren't so easy.

Yes, but things have changed since they made those arrangements.
Countries, including UK and NZ, are stopping flights from India, and dis-allowing non-citizens travelling from India even when transiting through 3rd countries.
Airlines, are pausing the flights. UAE stopped flights from India, Qatar still open at the moment.
It can still be done, but, there will be a lot of furious paddling under the water going on at the moment to line this up.
A political exception would have to be made if they do quarantine in UK (at Southampton) and at very least it won't be with rest of squad. It may have to be in a hotel in Doha, while they still can.

India has been added to a “red list” of countries from which most travel to the UK is banned, over fears of a new Covid variant, the health secretary has said.
From 04:00 BST on Friday 23 April, most people who have travelled from India in the last 10 days will be refused entry.
British or Irish passport holders, or people with UK residence rights, will be allowed in but must quarantine in a government-approved hotel for 10 days.
There's 3 weeks to go to end of round robin, a month to end of finals. Time for things to change, better, worse (or same).
(Jamieson is other NZ test player with IPL contract, Matye CdG as well as fringe player, but I dunno - he's been injured, I also don't watch it).

There's no physical barrier though mate. All that's needed is someone to sign a document on a piece of paper. That's the extent and remedy of this natural disaster.
Just use the one that exonerated Dominic Cummings for his girlfriend breach of lockdown last year.
Besides, these guys are "bubbled" anyway.

The thing that overcomes the physical barrier is being squeezed to one transit route. They'll need money and influence to squeeze through that in a timely manner. They'll need good luck with that that in the bureaucratic nightmare that is India when most of the rich dual citizens in a nation of 1.3 billion are trying to do the same thing.

@rapido of the little I know about India, I think that the chance that India can't get their players and 6 of the opposition to the first ever test final is pretty slim.

Chris Lynn's plane will be along any time...
It's inevitable that the BCCI will get the best fifteen Indian test players to England, but the best NZ players will be stuck there until October.
