“Akron was an absolute beatdown by Thomas, but it wasn’t without disgust from fans who were in the building watching meet, pool, and school records drop one after the other.

"Usually everyone claps, everyone is yelling and cheering when someone wins a race. Lia touched the wall and it was just silent in there," OutKick’s source said during a phone interview.

"When [Penn swimmer] Anna [Kalandadze] finished second, the crowd erupted in applause."

I do recall Greenwald discussing this with Martina Navratilova several years ago.

A little under the weather but shall try and read in the a.m. when can see straight 🙂

But I suspect the gist is that along the "anyone who queries trans opinion is evil" dogma?

The "case" against J K Rowling seems to be her view that a person can't determine their biological sex. Which is an utterly repugnant, hateful view according to some. In the real world she is, of course, right.

Sam, a 32-year-old man, was brought to the emergency department by his boyfriend. Sam reported an 8-hour history of severe (8 out of 10), intermittent lower abdominal pain. In triage, he had a blood pressure of 185/84 mm Hg and a heart rate of 67 beats per minute. The triage nurse noted that he was an obese man who appeared comfortable between bouts of pain. Sam told the nurse that he was a transgender man. His electronic medical record (EMR) indicated that he was male.

----Bedside ultrasonography was performed, confirming an advanced pregnancy with unclear presence of fetal cardiac activity. Sam was rapidly counseled regarding the findings and the need for an emergency caesarean delivery. He consented and was transferred to the operating room for further evaluation. In the operating room, no fetal heartbeat could be detected on ultrasound. Given the fetal death, Sam was transferred to a delivery suite where, moments later, he delivered a stillborn baby.

Actually wasn't as bad as I thought. A couple of comments suggest how readers should feel.

I keep reading what she has written and tweeted and I just can't see anything I disagree with.

Isnt the bigger point here, that it simply doesn't matter if people agree or disagree with what she says and thinks? Surely she has the right to her opinion, and cancelling her because a few or the majority disagree with that opinion, is just wrong in a liberal society.

No the problem is that some, including the main cast, deem her comments as anti-trans & therefore transphobic which is unacceptable.

It’s insane. The cast can piss right off. All of them are nothing without her. Millions can act. One one person has written HP.

I'm at the point now where I think "gender identity" is just a made up term for narcissists to give their personalities a name. It's just not a real thing.

There's a (very) small number of people who experience gender dysphoria which is a serious mental health issue. Outside of that there are males and females that display various masculine and feminine traits, and the more narcissistic of them have decided they don't fit into fiercely stereotypical definitions of male and female so have made up a new "gender identity" for themselves.

Your personality is influenced by, but not determined by your biological sex. That's really all there is to it.

@no-quarter Gender identity is hardly a new thing, even? ... gender labels on a binary spectrum have existed at least since the Lesbian movement of the 60-70s e.g. from "High Femme" to "Stone Butch" (fwiw Gender Theory as an academic field of study is still rooted in the feminist movement I believe)

Fyi as no-one has posted about the trans swimmer, Lia Thomas, in the US. Reasonable summary here?

Lia Thomas (US trans women, swimmer) breaking women's college records

Not sure in NZ (anyone know ... ??) but in the UK sport is an area specifically excluded from human rights legislation for trans people (legally the protected characteristic here is termed gender reassignment). Fairness is seen as the over-riding principle in sport ... hard to disagree

I like the term Futch. It seems almost onomatopoeiac.

Do I now go to Sapphic hell?
