    7. Jordan

That's exactly the backline I was thinking about when I posted my comment just before your post.

    @bovidae

I think they’d be wise to try it. I wonder what Beauden and Jordie at 10/-2 would look like. So far, Jordie has done fine at 12 (I havent watched todays game yet though).

Gotta say I would love to see J Savea come back and have a go at that try scoring record.

I'm seriously worried about our playmakers.

Both BB and RM last night showed serious flaws for test level. BB still relies on moments of brilliance (as does RM) but showed zero tactical awareness and control. I'm not just talking about the last 10 minutes either. When he did try to play tactically his skills (in particular kicking from hand) really let him down.
RM just isn't up to it defensively and if you can't hide him (or the opposition seek him out) it is 2019 semifinal all over again.

Yes, both seriously gifted but just as limited players. We have to find a way that utilises both their strengths and nullifies their glaring weaknesses. I still think this means having one start and one finish, as it is clear now that having them both on the field at the same time only plays to their weak points rather than their strengths.

His form the last two weeks puts him ahead of Bridge in a very similar role. Jules' left boot is bigger though.

Looking over the stats from last night, it's interesting reading, Mo'unga apparently only missed one tackle (made 3, missed 1), but it was a try conceding tackle and would be on that would interest international coaches (as @Crucial mentioned above).

Havili had a pretty good game on one side of the ball with a beautiful pass for a try assist, 7 runs, 3 defenders beaten, and 1 offload,. However, he missed 4 tackles (made 5) and I would say that international coaches will be examining those. I remember one was being stepped by Barrett but I think a couple of the others were related to the big runners coming down his channel (hope someone does a rewatch).

I think the point made above about defending in the line is a reasonable one for discussion, Barrett missed 3 tackles last night and made 2, but many here would argue that he is still a more effective defender that Mo'unga. For me, his shit kicking from hand and 4 turnovers were a problem, although one of those was a knock on that would have been a try if he regathered.

I also see that they've updated the tackle stats - Paps had 23 made, zero missed. 🐐 like numbers for a guy who also got around the field so well. Given his size, we might be able to get away with Savea at 8 in a Rodders role if Paps can be the tackle machine and ball runner that Richie became during that time.

That also means we need a Jerry Collins equivalent in the 6 - buggered if i know who that might be

@gt12 as pointed out at the time, Hall with the assist on that miss on DP...RM may have held DP leg slowing him for the cover but as Hall came over he fell on RM meaning he couldn't hold on.

The Eklund try also demonstrated Mounga's lack of size and strength in the tackle. I am not criticising Mounga here because he was in position and did make the tackle. I am merely pointing out that physics is a thing and you can imagine teams will try run big guys down his channel close to the line because they know they will have a very good chance of getting over.

You know, just because you are earnest and serious doesn't mean you are right.

And despite what you say, you are as, if not more biased, than anyone.

And that's cool. It's what makes the Fern fun. Own it. Revel in it. Pick D Havili at 12 in a world XV. Pick Blackadder at 6. Have Jonah Lowe at 14. It's fun, that's what the Fern should be.

That's a starting backline I want to see. Power, size, speed and elusiveness. Reece is easily the best right wing in New Zealand. Jordan is too good not to start at fullback where he can get more opportunities. Clarke is the form left winger. Rieko is the form centre and has pace to burn. Aaron's pass can ensure Beaudy can run into space and if he needs to bail out, Jordie has the size and skillset to get over the advantage line.

Looking bloody good if all 7 players are fit and in form. My only question mark is Reece's defence. Someone really needs to teach him proper tackling technique and not so with the arms.

While I don't necessarily disagree with this, but according to the Fern a first 15 AB team would arguably only have Whitelock, Jordan and possibly Reece from the Crusaders. Yet, they have been the bench mark as a team for the last few years and last night the Blues scraped home. Somebody must be doing something right. Coaching? A team being better than the sum of its parts?

                              2. Beaudy
                              3. Clarke
                              4. Jordie
                              5. Rieko
                              6. Reece
                              7. Jordan

                              3. Someone who can cover midfield (Jordan & Ioane already cover wing, Jordie covers 15 too). Would have had ALB but injured.

The problem with going to RWC with Jordie in the 12 jersey is that the Rugby Gods are definitely going to notice that Fozzie is playing fast and loose with the fullbacks at centre rule.

@chris-b best observation in this thread. I had not considered it

Mind you, he's probably not going to win anyway, so maybe we test the curse

I did notice that JB didn't seem to make as much impact at 12 last night as he does at 15....
