I have never seen any idnication that Grant Fox is senile when I heard him speak etc.

He was certainly quite defensive when he was interviewed in the last couple of years, came across as quite stubborn.

Fox did a really good job as selector but probably stuck around a year or two too long (I think initially he was planning to call it quits at end of RWC 2019 but then agreed to hang around to help Fozzie).

A fresh set of eyes in Schmidt should be well received.

Yep he wanted to call it quits after WC, and I think was waiting for Schmidt to become available. Also coming across as a bit stubborn is hardly mean he's senile. I don't see why he hung around to long, haven't really seen anyone in last year or 2 who should of been in or our of ABs. Especially added into fact I haven't seen proper reports etc of players training, and I certainly haven't been at anywhere near as many matches to actually watch the players as the Selectors. A few here may of been at lots of games, but I have only been at a few.

I can't agree with this line of thinking that selectors or coaches can't be criticised just because they are privy to more information.

If we look at the last 2 years

    • Major question marks over midfield and loose forward remain
    • Continue to pick players who underwhelm at test level (Bridge, Ennor, Frizell, Tuipulotu etc)
    • Failed to rejuvenate the propping stocks - discarding some players (Hodgman) whilst picking others (Bower)
    • Playing Jordie Barrett on the wing repeatedly despite obvious limitations there
    • Some players are sacred cows no matter how they perform (Perenara, Ta'avao, Big Karl etc),

Ironically some of the really good selections have been when they've taken punts on players that had question marks over them - Samisoni T, De Groot, Christie F etc.

Mate of course they can be criticised, never said they couldn't was just saying they senile, or calling them stupid etc says more about the perople saying it than it does about the selectors/coaches etc. I live in a world where I try to respect everyone whether I agree with them or not.
I have no problems with any fan having an opinion, no matter how uninformed it is, and I realise that many get theirs from watching the odd game on TV. Hell I got enough opinions, and plenty of them wrong, I know that, and realise I don't know more than selectors/coaches because if I did I would of probably been there or thereabouts in doing the job.
I repeat if anyone thinks they have the right to say people are senile/stupid etc publicly and behind a nic, it reflects them in not a great light.

@Dan54 Dan, you are probably a very nice older gentleman, but this forum is an old internet site where we have "fun with our friends on the computer", and insults, trangressive language, and hyperbole are all part of the fun, as it has been since about 2000.

@Tim Yep fair enough mate, as I said not a problem, just wonder why is all.
And I take it some have fun by calling others names that aren't here, as I say it says just as much about me that I think a bit of repect is good to. I not saying I right or others wrong, guess it's all what we see as fun.

@Dan54 general rule of thumb is you treat it like a pub situation, but a pub where if you step over the line (abuse of other patrons/posters, spam, trolling) you will get chucked out.

I bet when you have had a few with your mates you have said "oh yeah that guy, hes such a knob" or similar...

People always talk shit, more so when with thier mates, and given many here have been here for years, it is an online community, and we are 'TSF mates' and know what buttons to push and most know how far they can push too before a mod steps in

Just imagine everyone is pissed and is at the proper talking shit stage - that’s about the level.

              Except no need to imagine.

Ok apologies fellas, I not pissed, not usually when I post. And as a rule I don't really get into namecalling etc when I pissed anyway (that I remember), not something I ever got into.

                  @Duluth

On form and fully committed he could be world class.

However, does he want to become a world class player for the ABs?

After ruining his last season, chasing a 7’s dream he has had 5 or 6 games for the Blues and was in the press saying he would like to play in the NRL. I know this may be a contract negotiation ploy but it was a pretty poor judgement, especially given that he is suspended right now.

I would ignore the NRL stuff. There’s a few articles from the one interview. It seems the Aussie media asked two questions “Do you want to play NRL?” & “How good is Roger Tuivasa-Sheck?”

Just as well our Stuff scribes aren't the AB selectors. All seem to be big fans of Frizell. Hinton's backline looks familiar.

That fluffybunny reads this thread. Bet if I had made a forward pack he'd have selected that too. Certainly would've been better than the crap he's saddled my backline with.

I fear Foster thinks "We lost to France and Ireland because we were tired after three months on the road", which is not untrue. So Knowler's team could be not far from the one we might see in June. As far as I am concerned, I would like to see new blood injected into the team (De Groot and Newell in the front row to get rid of Bower, Laulala and Ta'avao who are good Super Rugby players but not of international calibre - Lord for Whitelock, LF for Bridge).
Hookers : Taylor and Taukei'aho are obvious choices. If Coles is not fit, I would go with Eklund who is in the form of his life. It's a shame Tyrone Thompson can't throw because he is the best ball carrier after ST.

Anyone know when the dates get confirmed for the Tests this year? Doesn't seem to be anything online

Irish travel sites are saying the 3 tests are

                                    Saturday 2nd July
                                    Saturday 9th July
                                    Saturday 16th July

These dates line up exactly with England's tour of Aus.

Those dates are confirmed on the WR website but the venues are still listed as TBC.

And these are the refs for those tests:

                                    Karl Dickson (RFU)
                                    Jaco Peyper (SARU)
                                    Wayne Barnes (RFU)

@mariner4life Do you start the better rugby player OR do you play the better No.8?
