Disagree with what Robertson is wanting to do, but good on him for articulating his views and pushing the envelope. He clearly understands/thinks there's gaps in the talent pool which he's concerned about. NZ Rugby needs a shake-up.

But, like any other AB Head Coach, he has to make the best of what's available and will be judged on that basis.

Except he made his case earlier, got shut down by NZR and is doing it again.

If there's gaps it's his job to fix them, with the talent available. If Fozzie can get the ABs to within a point of winning the final with NZ based players surely Coaching Jesus will walk it.

How many overseas based players would have made the ABs when Fozzie was coach? Not many if any.

Now at least two world class players in Mounga and BBBR would walk into this team which is well short of world class talent. I can see why Razor is pushing for overseas based players, and as long as we limit it to only a couple of players, I'm ok with it. The alternative is having Tupou Vaa'i at lock.

I’d be far more on board with this idea if Mo’unga could kick the goals that count.

    @KiwiMurph

    Interesting test case.

Will players be keen to stick around now that Razor has seemingly decided he can’t win without Mo’unga?

You would think Burke has the inside running for at least the third spot in the team.

@taniwharugby I'm all for the unknown, but I prefer new rather than retreads (returning players) tbh. One of the mistakes made during the previous TWO all black coaching regimes was selecting Beauden at 15 when he was no longer cutting at 10.

It's hard for me to foresee much improvement in those overseas players tbh.

Where did he say that ? The media asked about Mounga, Razor never bought him up or really responded to that question.
His generic response was he has asked everyone to keep an open mind on everything.

Wasn't sure where to post this

I was going to do a speculative post along the lines of 'Which young kiwi 10s will the four British home unions try to recruit' on that day the BB long-term deal news broke., but thought better of it. The BB news was a little bit too upsetting.

@Chris He didn't have to say it. All this repeated eligibility talk from Razor was about Richie.

From the Media yes Razor never mentioned Mounga, until they bought it up so can you read Razors mind.

With Scotland targeting our next potential 10 after DMAC and BB, he maybe wanting force the issue. We really cannot afford to lose him, LF left at a young age. That was not good, he had plenty of years as an All Black and Crusader in him.

    Is Kaino still lacing up?

Clarke's problems are mental more than physical - i.e. workrate - be interesting if O'Halloran can make any shifts for Clarke during Super.

If only, at Toulouse skills coach and academy assistant coach.

Maybe it is Lock where they are looking to shore up.

His lack of balance might be both mental and physical

Is Fergus Burke really next in line? He's so nondescript that I've been muddling him up with Brett Cameron in my head while reading this thread - until just now when I clicked they're different.

He is a good few months away with his injury. He has played mostly at fullback, at the Saders he is seen as Richie's heir, time will tell.
