He may allow the game to flow more ,open running rugby will suit us down to the ground obviously,

They want a stop start borefest, but they can’t say that , it sounds too negative and against what is good for the game

Stop start borefest? Was the game in Dublin last November a borefest? Ignoring the outcome of the result, I think any rugby fan would have thought that was a great game to watch.

The closeness of the score kept it interesting ,

the way you guys play , is different to how we like to see the game played ,holding onto the ball for long peroids without actually doing too much variation wise with it, most kiwis find it boring and frustrating ,and i think the players do too ,

it wins you games , its worked against us in recent times , so good luck to you , we hope to beat you by playing more fast open running rugby, you guys will more than likely try to prevent that happening by bringing the ball back into the trenches , not sure how it will all go , i guess we will find out,

Which is what the comments were based on , different game styles , apologies if you find it offensive

I would argue that the way NZ defend (or play without the ball) made that game boring (for us).

So bloody passive. Get in their and compete occasionally, it's supposed to be a game of contest for possession.

Passive in the tackle, passive in the ruck, passive line-speed.

Plan A, B, C, D seemed to be waiting for our god-given right for the oppostion to make a mistake so we could counter-attack.

I wish I knew who those comments and the ensuing articles were aimed at

Anyone who knows anything about rugby knows every team has a strategy to disrupt the ruck.

So who exactly are these blokes chirping at?

Been lots of sideways ruck entering/cleaning this tournament. So, that seems the trend.

Ruck entries (and invisible gates) don't really bother me much as a watching fan, as long as they aren't flying cleanouts blindsiding players. Which there aren't, so all good.

Really want Aussie to get up for this one Perth-style, think England will be a tough SF opponent (if we beat Ire) if they're high on confidence from winning well.

I just want all our Southern neighbors to beat the UK teams. And of course I think we have a better chance against Aus than England. I'd love to see them pull out a Perth game.

What about Ireland? You didn't mention them.....just the UK teams....🤔

I’m sure Owens is stoked that the Irish media are saying these charming things about him and won’t carry any unconscious bias against them into the match

Since the Irish should be aiming at slowing ABs ball down as much as they can, highlighting the breakdown / ruck area doesn't seem that smart.... but I guess this isn't coming from the Irish camp though but the unwashed masses.

Feel like it could be a very busy day for our backrow - Cane needs to get the better of Van der Flop and make sure he can't flop all over our ball. Savea needs to increase his chat and get in Nige's ear before his opposite number, Peter O'Moan-ey. Similarly, Read needs to win the running metres battle over his opposite, CJ Sub-Standard.

What about Sexytoes, Past-his-best, Grindshaw and Ring a Rosey? Surely they get a look in?

team naming not far off, my 15:
                        Moody, Taylor, Laulala
                        BBBR, Whitelock
                        Cane, Read, Ardie,
                        Smith, Mounga,
                        Crotty, ALB
                        Bridge, BB, Reece

Outside of the mid-field and hooker, I'd be surprised if those above are not named to start.

@Canes4life yea hooker is a toss of a coin for me, mid field, could be any combination but reckon that one has put in the best performance for us in the last year or so.

True. Was thinking just one or the other but that makes sense.

Do we have to assume that Retallick will only play 60 due to fitness?

@Bovidae think Yealden had ALB/Goodhue, SBW on bench...

For me, just leaves us a bit green - Mounga, ALB, Goodhue, Bridge, Reece....less caps than BB??

I was thinking about exactly that earlier today. If JB is on the bench, as some have speculated, then this would be one of the greenest backlines the ABs have selected for a big RWC test in a long time. That's why I would put BFA on the bench to provide some experience if needed.

Although, having said that, for the ABs to win it is the forwards who need to dominate.

It would have been inconceivable to think just 12 months ago that a fit Smith, Ioane and Crotty could all be outside the 23 for a QF.

Inconceivable that Crotty would even be fit at this stage, yet here we are.
