I think they'll favour Ennor over Fainga'anuku to provide cover at 12 and 13. It might be Reece and Ennor on the bench, with Jordan as fullback cover if BB has to go off. It's easier to slot someone on the wing than rearrange the midfield - again.

Why make it so complicated when there is only one spot to fill?

Upvote for the bold. But we will need to find a bench replacement too.

    FC, BB and Reece.

Leaves us short of midfield cover.

    I'm thinking LF.

He's knocked a couple of blokes out trying to tackle him this year! But yeah he probably hasn't busted through tackles like he did before he went to 7s, but he's got plenty of power and is not easy to tackle when he's got a head of steam up. He's also looking for work more than Jordan, hence him being in a position to take those passes and go through the gap at full speed.

Just needs to stop his propensity to go to ground before being tackled and he'll be a lot more dangerous.

@Victor-Meldrew Ennor will have to be on the bench as centre cover (and wing). He isn't an option at 2nd 5. If RTS doesn't start there is no point him being in the 23.

A JB at 12/BB at 15 combo has less risk than RTS at 12 - particularly if we want to keep the EP record.

Just a pity we haven't been able to blood newer players as much as we would have liked.

          I don't see RTS as a risk.

          And I question the need to play a 15 at 12 and a 10 at 15.

Just rewatched with more calm, and if Foster doen't put Jordie at 12 he's a fucking tool. Jordie has all the skills that Havili has, but is bigger and can actually hit the bloody line. Admitedly he needs to remember in tight to go lower than he would in backfield play, but he was bloody good.

Christie (Smith didn't run once, again), Mo'unga, CC (at least he's big & fast), Jordie, Ioane (prefer on the wing but this is where we are at), Reece, BB (he didn't fight for control bled 1)

@gt12 funnily enough Reece has played in the midfield for the ABs once and did so for Ta$man and Saders.

Once we lost our two 2nd 5s our set ups at set piece were quite interesting. Beaudie was often in that 2nd 5 position in attack. Defensively Beaudie was at the back. In phase play there was a bit of mix and match between Richie, Jordie and Beaudie on who was at 1st receiver and who was in the secondary line for the next phase.

                According to ESPN, you're wrong.

Aaron Smith did indeed make a run.

Still a question mark over Ardie’s availability?

He'll be back. Foster made a comment that implied the baby had been born.

The easiest option is JB to 12 and BB to 15, i.e., the backline that played in the 2nd half. I also don't think that the RM-BB combo has worked that well.

Putting RTS at 12, in combination with Ioane, could also be looked at. Less disruption and you still have the aerial strength and big boot of JB at the back. BB to provide impact off the bench.

I think there may also be some tweaks in the reserve forwards like Ofa for Newell.

@broughie which is why Christie helps make us look more dangerous when he comes on as he is a threat with the ball too, right now with Smith there, you know he will kick or pass, and you clearly see when a kick is being set up, so yeah...

Reckon Christie should be given a start this week.

The sail is set with the coaching team for the RWC now and they need to see this through for better or worse.

Last night was an improvement in that we got the W in an error ridden performance. Lots of work ons and lessons to absorb. Focus will obviously now be on sorting out next week and especially the bench with shudder Ennor.

Play JB at 12, RI will be 13. RTS on the bench. I'd like to see Reece in for Clarke, but I reckon CC stays. Jordan stays on his wing and BB plays at 15. Despite being past his prime I felt like Beaudy was at the heart of some of the good stuff we did

Frizell or Barrett? And pleased that Ardie is back

The other big decision looming for Foster and co-selectors Joe Schmidt and Jason Ryan will be in the loose forwards, where regular starters Ardie Savea and Shannon Frizell both return after missing the trip to Melbourne.

Savea is a certainty to step back in at No 8 where he has been so impressive this season. Less clear is whether Scott Barrett will remain at No 6 or Frizell will be restored there after performing well before picking up a rib injury in Hamilton.

Skipper Sam Cane will also have to be monitored after leaving the field in Melbourne in the first half with concussion symptoms. He later passed his HIA test, though will be further assessed when the team hits the training field in Auckland this week. Dalton Papalii looms as the most likely replacement, if required.

my opinion is we will be a better team with 3 locks in the 23, and an actual loose forward at 6.

Leota out for the Aussies. RTS more than likely starts from the bench, with Jordie starting at 12.

I dont mind Jordie getting more time in the midfield ,

Because with him, Jordan and Beaudie likely to be in the 23 , we have plenty of fullback cover ,

its nice to know he can slot back in there if required if this happens again
