Who is the likely AB 12? Midfield combos seem a bit hit and miss this season.

Jordie will walk in with Havili and his amazing utility value there as back up

Nice stitchup but DH had some touches in his recent game. Still, no way is he a 13 and I'd rather we moved on at 12 (perhaps Jordie is the frontrunner there, haven't kept up with his overseas form after the first few games).

A back touching the ball ?

    Awesome

A back touching the ball and not stuffing up would be gold at the Blues at the moment ... Black gold.

Razor press conference June this year……

“Yeah we watched Super Rugby and saw how often Havili was touching the ball and not stuffing up. That put him head and shoulders above all the others. Selecting him was a no brainer really”

        When is Leicester back?
I'm a Proctor fan by the way, defensive frailties are a concern though.

@nostrildamus Probably will be back for this year's NPC, so if his form warrants an All Black recall this year's EOYT. Listening to Kiwilads commentary of the Blues Crusaders game and heard there was talk of James Occonnor possibly switching allegiances to the All Blacks. Not sure how serious the rumour was, he would have to sit out this year's Lions tour.

So who wears 13 this year since Reiko Ioane is showing absolutely fuck all?

He would probably be the top scoring Allblack of all time if he had of just stayed on the wing.

The move to 13 has been quite underwhelming.

Ha! I came up with that meme after seeing JOC playing well in the Crusaders-Blues thread.

The move has been disappointing. I suspect his spot in the ABs is safe for this season. There is nobody else screaming pick me.

As for the future, I reckon Wrampling is one to watch. If he can overcome his injuries he looks like he has all the tools.

Would you call 28 young? I like Perofeta, but he isn’t the solution either.

I'm not sure we've ever had the chance to find out.

This is this dumb circular argument. If you think Perofeta could be the answer at 10 for the ABs, have I got things to sell to you.

Perofeta is a great example of where selection has gone wrong in recent year. Pick a bloke, give him 5 minutes at the fag-end of a Test and judge him on that.

Wrampling is a gun but he's probably going to continue struggle for minutes with ALB, Tupaea and Rona all ahead of him in the pecking order in the midfield (and Mataele bizarrely selected ahead of him on the wing earlier in the season).

We can't simply wish up the players of the level we desire, though. We have to select the best ones and stick with developing the ones with potential (think Nonu).

We haven't done that for quite some time. Where would Sititi and Va'ii be if it weren't for forced injury selections?

Would love to see Caleb Tangitau and Leroy Carter being called up. I think we need more raw speed to match Bok and French wings.

The counter argument would be that Perofeta wouldn’t be in the All Blacks if we had players of the level we desire

We can't simply wish up the players of the level we desire, though. We have to select the best ones and stick with developing the ones with potential (think Nonu).

We haven't done that for quite some time. Where would Sititi and Va'ii be if it weren't for forced injury selections?

Holding tackle bags with Plummer, Love and Proctor

Vaa'i is a good example of spotting a talent, giving him game-time, accepting a few bad performances and the benefits of coaching continuity.

Exactly!!! I feel like Rees and Telea just don’t have raw speed and x- factor for test level. I wish selectors would understand when it is time to move on.

At least Telea is still elusive, in a Corey Jane sort of way. His game was never about all out speed

@canefan I really think Telea has midfield potential, so strong in the tackle and so slippery when tacklers aren't paying attention.

Oh yeah because converting a wing into a centre has worked well for us. No thank you. How about we give our specialists a go for once.

Blues are really leaving their run late. Lots of players need to hit form in order to get into the Abs. Can't see Razor leaving guys like Telea and Ioane out regardless of form. Injury is the only thing that opens up opportunity so it seems.
