I don't get the calls to drop Kane from the T20s. I agree if he is feeling fatigued but he has been one of the key players until the last 3 games, not to mention his performances in the IPL where he is one of the few Kiwi batsmen to have success.

But then the Fern has always been the place to call for people's heads due to only being able to remember the previous game.

Well not in his case. He’s universally adored.....but to reiterate my point if he forgoes 20/20 to help his career in the other two formats then so be it.

Yep, you're right, with the integral part being it's his decision alone. I'm up for anything he wants to do. Hell he could insist on batting in black face, wearing a diamond tiara and striding out to " nice tits, shame about the face" at full bore, and I'd back him to the hilt!

I just want to watch him bat as much as possible. Even his golden ducks are classy🙂

It wobbled over like a partially lame duck

Worked for Larkham in a rather famous match.

Some of those balls were unplayable.

The one to Ross Taylor in particular swung in the last metre or so of flight. Can't feel bad about missing it.

Probably the best synopsis of Smith's batting I've seen.

'If Smith was Indian, his technique would just be accepted' http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/27641752/steven-smith-was-indian-technique-just-accepted

    k lowen yes

    The Cambridge derby. 🙂

I played Sunday football against Lowen a few times and often ended up marking him. Surprisingly quick for his size.

I made the mistake of going to play touch, that turned into league, with a bunch of Hautapu guys as my mate played for them. I tried to tackle Lowen. I feel I know how Mike Catt felt when he tried to tackle Jonah.

@siam Is this JetStar Oz? According to their website there is a charge for 'offline' booking, but nowhere near $50.

Check out the fees and charges section.

@sapetyvi Tried first session on you tube tonight. I'm inflexible as hell but I did feel like I did some work, and I got a little bit of a sweat up. Will try the 20 minute beginner one for a while and see where it takes me 🙂

May have told this story before but my mate couldn't make the game due to a new girl he was seeing. He stayed the night (happy days) and was about to up and leg it over to our place. When he said he was going to see the boys she told him it was her birthday and being a GC he couldn't ditch her.

She offered to cook kai and said they could watch it together. So he settled in to watch it in bed, while she cooked them up a feed and they had some quality time.

Fast forward to the end of the match. He was nearly in tears sitting at the end of the bed. She didn't get it at all, and obviously missed all the signals of emotional trauma, and asked him 'Well the games over now, what are we doing today?". I don't think he lost his shit but he did say something like "I've got to go sorry'.

    Never saw her again.

What a bummer, not often you find a girl that will let you watch a game she isn't interested in, on her birthday, after some boom boom fun time AND cooks you breakfast.

    Ha!! Murphy is a fucker!

Think the difference would be Richie was a role model for 10 years, the role model years for Baz were more like 2. Its like the Taylor / Hesson issue & the 45 all out basically grew him up & made him into the bloke that is worth 2 hours of anyones time.

Not saying he's not a role model, but there's no need to try & big up him to being Richie or Ed Hillary. Let the guy be who he is. If anything thats a better role model, kids don't need guys who were golden from day one, better to show them a guy who had a wake up moment & switched as Baz did.

At the risk of going over many of these arguments again, the Taylor report and subsequent reports provide pretty good summaries of the events and where the blame lay (i.e. the Police and their management of the event) and these latest charges are more around the actions of the Police post-incident that have contributed to the suffering of the families.

In terms of blame, Sheffield Wednesday FC (the stadium had major issues and had had capacity reduced due to previous issues that were never properly addressed), the local Police (signed off the event and the capacity in addition to providing crowd management at the event), the Council (signing off the event and capacity) and the FA (ignoring the previous incidents at Hillsborough when arranging the event and not delaying the start of the match) all contributed to running an unsafe event.

The fans actions were largely in response to the situation presented - while I have no doubt there was some bad behaviour (based on attending games in modern UK grounds and seeing footage of historical games) it wasn't found to be a significant proportion of the crowd or beyond a level expected at that time, and if the Police had had an effective crowd management plan in-place, this tragedy could have been avoided.
