    @antipodean

I have a Rega Planar 2 which is excellent. First brought to market in the early 70s and still being made. Low tech so super robust but with really good mechanics. The sound quality is very good Caveat: depending on your amp and speakers of course.

Cost in the UK is about £350 (bought one for Ms Cato’s birthday just over a year ago). There is a Planar 3 available but that is a bit more techy and close to twice the price.

Stylish to look at too. V understated.

And I only do that if I’m standing on the edge of a cliff. So I’m straight.

Is that why you are always standing in front of Cliff?

Well I'll be buggered. Wait. What?

    You'd push back for Cliff.
    And be buggered.

@Victor-Meldrew I only bought a new ride on about 18 months back, but at the time I had looked at some robo-mowers and they seem to have improved remarkably since, and pricing come down too.

I know a guy who has a prototype Husqvarna robomower, and Husqvarna are monitoring its perfomance in NZ conditions, particularly on kaikuya grass.

This is one I been looking at and will seriously consider in another year or so, is priced at about 5k NZD

Recently had the pleasure of listening to Mark Mathews speak, telling his story from big wave riding and getting on the red bull team and then adversity.

The way he speaks, telling us how he hates public speaking to his story, saw a bit of a dust storm rise up in the building we were in, made more impactful as I didn't know his story (hadn't googled him when i heard he was to speak)

I spoke to the MC after and he said Mark was terrified before he went on stage, yet when he was up there he looks as comfortable as anything.

We also had Ben Hamer a futurist speak, wasn't sure what to expect from him, but whatever I expected, he exceeded it, fascinating stuff, and he paints the picture more from the positive than the negative we see so often in the media.

    Peaty I’m guessing?

Very much so. But they do a more peaty option (octomore) and a totally unpeated option (bruichladdich) neither of which I’ve tried yet. The octomore is ridiculously expensive.

interesting (and i found fun) video reviewing the US$3k cybertruck tent attachment

they reevaluate slightly negative opinions as user error....but having a hand pump to inflate the tent when the values is so close too a power outlet does seem like a real miss and surprisingly analog

im kind of coming around....if they ever do a 2nd Gen im sure it will be sick

Ticwatch pro 3 is a great all rounder, although one of the main reasons I got it is it can have an esim and work independent of your phone and looks like that's not available in NZ.

Runs on wear OS and seems pretty accurate for tracking runs with ghostracer and throwing them into Strava.

@Winger I'll ask my SIL as she has one for an overactive kelpie that used to run off into other paddocks.

    Thanks.

The dogs are not too happy too now as they love their walk / run (and swim in the small lakes) every morning so really want to find a solution

Hilarious, and should be completely illegal, that Spark in NZ is trying to rip off old people for NZ$6/month to maintain their basic email account. What a scumbag company, what a non-existent commerce commission and competition regulator NZ has.

I used Nord fulltime and it had a few issues. Like so slow I had to turn it off. And also, automatically selecting the wrong country (Vietnam. WTF). Where it was super slow

So gave Kaspersky a go. It's in a different league to Nord. Outstanding so far after using it for about a month. On both my phone and computer.
