    Why would Schmidt leave Australia?

@stodders There's got to be a defence coach we can get.

Fuck me I am sick of hearing about how we are playing good defensive patterns when we regularly ship 30+.

@Tim Steve Jackson from the Black Ferns or Jerome Kaino from Toulouse.

Scott Robertson has been found out as a massive dud and should be relieved of his duties.

Just pay the compensation and let him go.

I'd approach Jamie Joseph and Vern Cotter to be the caretakers for the Bledisloe Cup, then Joe Schmidt as the new boss for the EOYT through to the World Cup campaign.

It isn’t so much his fault as it is Mark Robinson and the panel that selected him. They got swept up by populism, which is not something NZRU was known for. They decided to split from the continuity process put in place since Henry, but the reality was they have most of the team they needed already there (Ryan and Schmidt). They just needed to select the right head coach rather than change it all completely.

He’s stepping down. Laurie Fisher is taking over after the RC.

@MiketheSnow He's leaving Australia at the end of the Rugby Championship and Les Kiss will take over as Wallabies job.

Joe Schmidt is going to be living back in NZ. Whether he would take the AB's Head Coaching job, given personal matters, is not certain.

Technical advisor for the ABs would be great for Schmidt. Or skills coach. He wouldn’t need to travel so much. ABs need someone to take over from Wayne Smith in the innovation stakes. Could do a lot worse than Schmidt. He creates high performing environments. Maybe Director of NZ Rugby?

@sparky I'll be happy to see him and Cotter coach the Blues. No chance to get selected anyway, so our best players will go overseas.

                      Thanks NZR. Fuck you.

Schmidt needs to be involved in NZ rugby in any way they can. Director of Rugby, Head of Performance, Skills coach, coaching mentor, technical advisor - none of these roles require copious amounts of travelling that would suit Schmidt.

This is how Rieko Ioane played at the 2023 World Cup on attack (under Schmidt). He was bloody good:

Now the shit coaches have him out of form on attack. He is still our best defensive back by far though, and dropping him for Proctor was moronic. He was our best player against Ireland last year.

I can't recall, but I thought we had a habit of starting poorly and coming back in the final quarter under foster? That final quarter under Robertson is the elephant in the room. So much for headspace.

From his comments, that'd only happen if Scott Robertson had nothing to do with the All Blacks
