Lots of quotes online, especially from Razor about other players being more adept on both sides of the ball and more versatile in terms of playing multiple positions when discussing Hoskins' exclusion. Which to me is all fake speak for "we just have that as an excuse not to pick him" when you consider how soft our pack is right now
In other words, they don't think he's good enough.

Yup. Which is all very fine until you read what they were looking for, what they were apparently trying to achieve, and what they delivered

were they just dazzled by his success that all but demanded the job?
Still, to be fair, I was.
Apparently Razor said he was going to head overseas so NZR bent over and signed him instead of letting him leave. That's looking increasingly like a poor decision
Did anybody think he'd shit the bed this bad? I fucking didn't .
I just don't know how to approach this at the minute.
It's hard to think of a coach who has had so much goodwill going into the job and tanked it completely.
Is this not just a hangover from the glory days when the abs were dominant? (Circa 2016 or so) The expectation became that they win every match and when that doesn’t happen, people start screaming for the coaches head. It’s not realistic to think the abs will always be the best team in the world. Historically that wasn’t true, and won’t be for any team. They are a tweak away from being #1 again but people are calling for the whole organization to be replaced.
It’s disrespectful to the other teams in world rugby.
Y’all give yourselves an uppercut. In all honesty I don't think you're actually addressing my point which is simply that Razor had almost 100% support when coming into the job and he's lost that, and that's just not pure results.
Not sure how you got to us being disrespectful and needing to give ourselves an uppercut from my comment, seems like it was just a rant you had in the chamber.

Why do people always say except Jason Ryan. That fat fucker is the one who wants to exclude Talented players from selection because of personal issues. The forwrds have gone backwards this year as well if you take out Fabien Holland (nothing to do with Ryan) adding some much needed size, power and workrate. Our Scrum and lineout have both been dismantled at various times this year and we constantly lack go forward in contact. Thanks to Ryan the best power runners in NZ rugby are lost to us with one likely to turn up in England colours before the next world cup and the only decent 7 in terms of workrate and the physical size required for test rugby looks to be going the same way. Our best impact lock will probably follow next year. The majority of that appears to be down to Ryans dislike of what he perceives is the 'Blues Culture'. A region that produces one third of our player base.
Serious question, do we have any proof that exclusions are a result of Ryan's personal issues? Or is it something that has been repeated so much it's become the 'truth'?
We saw Akira and Hoskins dropped in 2023 in the first full season of Ryan as forwards coach.
Then the following year we saw Papali'i dropped and ghosted too.
Whether its personality or he just doesn't rate them its still his personal issue with those players.

Agree, but it's obvious some people think it's some sort of conspiracy.

Slightly dramatic, unless you're privvy to dozens of missed calls/messages that we don't know about from DP asking why he isn't in the team......
Just so we're clear I'd select him in a heartbeat over other options we've had this year.

Given how fawning the majority of the rugby media were over Razer I genuinely had no idea who who the article was going to be written by until I opened it.

or maybe, just maybe, they are fixated on utility players because they don't want to have a large group of specialist players to select and train...

When Sititi had his breakout season I thought ok, they're training someone to replace Ardie and move Ardie to 7 to replace Cane just don't know who their 6 is (perhaps it was initially supposed to be EB or Luke J).
But the loosies have gone backwards and I don't see what their plans are..
