You have much more faith in the selectors than I do. I think he'll be lucky to be selected.
Having said that, I'd certainly be open to us trying Sparky's back row. I just don't think it will happen.

Akira, Mo'unga, Goodhue, Bridge. All guys with little/no game time that opposition really won't have much data available for, yet have been heavily involved in AB squads. Maybe even someone like Jordan too. We know these selectors like to have players like this in a RWC squad and unleash them for the big games.

Squire no loss. Frizzell and Hemopo already probably better players.
Said it before, will say it again. ABs World Cup back row: 6 Kieran Read, 7 Sam Cane , 8 Akira Ioane. Impact from the bench Scott Barrett and Ardie Savea.

@Bones If Bridge could get time on the right wing for the Crusaders, that would be great.

Now it's official: Squire is going to NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes. He has signed with the club for 2 seasons.

Not sure how likely that is but it makes more sense to me than Akira at 6. The Italy game showed out the most effective 6 game in the ABs gameplan which was Fifita being a spot tackler with speed off the line. The disruption and potential to create an opposition error was great.

@taniwharugby 8 years in the ABs is nothing to be sneezed at.
A single cap off the bench in the 78th minute in black is nothing to sneeze at.
For a guy who wasn't able to hold down a starting spot in the test team the column inches and media circus got a bit much. When all of that is stripped away he has had the Super/Test career of Liam Messam, with a good offload in a RWC final and the record for most cards in AB history.
It's a pity that his code-and-continent-hopping tendencies didn't kick in a season or two earlier (around the same age they do for tenured All Blacks) because he has offered buckleys for anyone other than the journalists this cycle.
Got any stats to back up that claim?
I'm thinking no, if this is anything to go by.

@Bones Impressive stats for McCaw, cloak or no cloak. 148 matches in the back row and only 3 yellows. Hats off.

Probably inversely as unimpressive is Beauds, especially when you look at the fact not far below half of those caps are off the bench.

Personally, I prefer books and booze.
England have radically altered their back row in recent games and look better for it. Akira is NZ's better version of Billy Vunipola. Test forward packs need four ball-carriers these days. Read could perform at 6 the sort of role Peter O'Mahony did so well for Ireland last year.
-
Melani Nanai has signed for the Worcester Warriors and will join them at the end of Super Rugby.
-
England have Billy Vunipola, Ireland have CJ Stander, France will soon have Jordan Joseph. The number 8 position is changing (in part to reflect defence patterns but also refereeing interpretations). Power is key. Akira has lots of it.
Changing their back row in World Cup year isn't causing England problems.

Won't happen, because he doesn't play for the Blues. :fishing_pole:

Pro rugby players know fuck all about rugby outside of their bubble, which seems right from players I've talked to. Can bite them in the arse, when choosing a cashed up club to sign for

Not in this article on stuff, but reading the original media release, I see that Northland halfback Jono Kitto has also signed with Worcester Warriors (for a 2nd stint).
