The YT bloke seems to have the current obsession in England that Cane is crap and selected his 6/7/8 around that. Ardie is an 8 not a 7 - that's his position in SR and Test rugby and has been for several seasons. Blackadder is primarily a 6 and currently injured, so a bit weird to say an out-of-position injured player is the best option at 8.

That back row is up there with playing an injured Jordie on the wing.
Swap Ardie to 8 and Blackadder to 7, I remember Foster praising that combo last season.
Wouldn't be far away as a Combo, Ryan also rates Blackadder highly.
Frizell was also bought in to the playing xv when he was fit, straight over Akira.For me Blackadder jack of all trades, but master of none. Huge work rate. Makes for excellent squaddie, but not same as starter.
One of the more overused terms that barely ever applies. What happens is because of others in the squad they get used around them. Doesn’t mean they aren’t quality in one position.
In Blackadder’s situation he has shown great ability at both 6 and 7 at super rugby level. And last year at test level formed a very good trio with Ardie and Sotutu. But still very much a work in progress at test level given he’s only started 5 tests and come off the bench for another few.
The Jack of all trades label was said for example about Masoe (who was a very good no8) and Toeava (a quality midfielder and his best position but I think was persisted with at fullback for so long because of his boot)
Blackadder to me is not big enough to be a top international 6 or 8. Also can’t see him supplanting Cane or Paps at 7.
The strongest plus is that loosie trios are about balance, and his work rate allows a more seagulling type to be included.
Same height as Frizell 1.95 m
And Blackadder is 111kg Frizell 108kg,
he is bigger than people think
And compare that to say a Jeriome Kaino
Who was 1.96 and 110 Kg. -

You cannot be lock cover for the ABs at 108kgs.

@Crucial Yeah - Scott will be all of 120kgs these days.
Mainly posted to give some idea of the necessary dimensions to play lock. Fifita considered too light at 113kgs.
Frizell and Kaino both heavier than that and pretty obvious just looking at them.

I think Fifita saying he didn’t like the hard work required to play lock was probably an issue too.
Sigh, looks like James Blackwells AB career is over before it even starts.
Barrett is definitely more “stocky” than Whitelock and Retallick ( if someone who is about 6’ 6” can be described as stocky that is )
