Former Canterbury player Jon Preston had excellent analysis of Mo'unga shitness at halftime in that match

@Victor-Meldrew I won't say we weren't dumb, but if you cannot compete at the contact, you're no chance in a knock out game.

England ran straight at Mo'unga and made easy metre's and got points out of it. He was mentally broken and hid from first receiver for the rest of the game.

He still has the same problem now. When the game gets tough he doesn't take control he gives up the first receiver spot

A first five that didn't want to touch the ball really didn't help

It's ok now. He's never done that in a pressure game since then

the Ref worries me for this game Carley is prone to slow the game down with penalties and pedantic ones at that.
He will be a Ref the Italians will be happy with.
Set piece kick fest maybe the way the game is shaping up.

In a way that is good, that we get that versus Italy, as we will need to be able to overcome that sort of game versus much better teams.

No. We were dumb, dumb, dumb. From the selection through to the final whistle.

That loss hurt more than 2007 - and I was there in Cardiff.

I have only just realised that Carley is the ref, and now I have an extra 2 hours to do something other than watch rugby on Saturday morning.

Sad that my lifelong love of rugby has diminished to that point.

                            This week is easy

In the QF if the forwards play well it may still a draw between the packs, or we may get edged. Thats when having a mentally weak ten is a concern

Poor coaching, as is the standard.

Same coaching set-up when he was getting game-time and being so bloody effective coming off the bench. Weird.

Foster has always preferred Taylor, even when it was blindingly obvious that he was playing terribly and Samisoni was playing great. IIRC he dropped Samisoni despite being our best forward for the Irish decider, then continued using Taylor while our lineout and his general play was dogshit all last season. Taylor is a decent player, but his form last year was arguably the worst I've seen an AB get away with and keep being selected - and that's not when the cupboard was bare, but when we had another option who was clearly better. It is just shit selection.
Samisoni should be a bolted on starter by now. Taylor or Coles should be the bench guy, or if we were better at handling young players, Aumua could have been ready in time.
We all sit around bemoaning Super rugby and our lack of grunt up front - and we have that guy right fucking there and they won't fucking pick him!

If what you say is true - and it may be - you have to question what value Ryan actually adds, don't you?

Not really. Foster's preference for Taylor and Taylor's terrible form pre-dates Ryan being involved.
Has Ryan changed that? No. Has he tried? No idea.
Buck stops with the head coach.

Well personally I would be starting with Taylor, I a ST fan , but we need a bloody solid set piece going forward, and hence Taylor probably gets the nod. Would make no difference anyway, we all got our players we like and lo and behold any coach or coaches who don't put our players on field.

I have only just realised that Carley is the ref, and now I have an extra 2 hours to do something other than watch rugby on Saturday morning.

Sad that my lifelong love of rugby has diminished to that point.

I agree with the many posters hoping to see a more direct game.

Given Matt Carly is ref - the stars are aligned for the ABs to stumble , fall foul of the officials etc., ill-discipline will be costly - not just for this match .. I hope the ABs don't stumble over this banana peel of a game -

All I want is some simple disciplined rugby, play for territory, value and contest possessions, strong defense and put some doubt in the minds of those who have already written the ABs off........ (Please no Foster and BB hold my beer moments)

No, no,... let the ABs stay off the radar. Irish convinced they have an easy route to the final is good! Unfortunately, they may well have but hopefully the Irish team is listening to the outside noise.

A lot of the comments about players and coaches have an obvious provincial bias and are just getting boring.

we let former Crusader Leon MacDonald lose us two World Cups, it seems tradition to let current Crusader Richie Mo'unga lose us two as well. I like patterns
