I just hate dickheaded-ness in Rugby no matter where it comes from. Which was why the RWC QF was so bloody satisfying - Sexton's tears being the sweetest icing on the cake

I did too up to a point, and realised that dickheadedness comes in may forms, and I wasn't above letting a halfback etc know what I thought of him if I had managed to get him (even if a bit late etc). I know we all kind of have our rules etc, but watching Coles goad Codie Taylor into getting YCed was something I enjoyed.
I also had a former French rugby player billeted with us a few years back in Aus. part of management of a club side we looked after. This man proudly told me that he had marked Colin Meads in a couple of tests, and after a few drinks we had laughed at rugby stories etc of what happened in tests etc that he had played in against not just Abs, but others too. Take y word for it, mouthing off etc would be least dicie thing that was happening.
Same as sledging in cricket, height of dickheadedness or just getting in heads?

Well that's changed. So joint favourites with France now. Hmmm.

I noticed the world's "greatest 12" let his rival waltz past him in the 72nd minute-Mr Aki seems a bit slow on the turn...

Their cynicism is battle-earned. I admire it. Even, maybe especially, at scrums.

I just want other teams to get a fair chance to fuck their scrum up.

[edit especially the boks next week but also France in the QFs.]

They are some shower of whinge bags on the field. Detestable bunch.

Sexton is such a whiny fluffybunny

Seems to be a very Irish trait these days.

I blame BOD for starting it.

Oddly enough, it seems to have infected a lot of Fern fans too.
Whine here, whine there, bloody wine everywhere.

Seems to have started sometime around 2016, according to the historians...

    I blame Wayne Barnes

    Fair comment. 😉

Ireland lucky. If Samoa had a line out, they win that game. Having said that, McFarland was clearly played at in the air in that last line out. Should have been a penalty.

Samoa defence was immense and they exposed the Irish in a few areas tonight, defended against them in general play better than the ABs last year.

Ireland not as good as they and the public in general think they are.

How were Ireland lucky? It was pissing rain which suited Samoa who were happy to play kick chase. They're a bigger, heavier side and played the conditions well. Ireland are a light side who like to move the ball.

    Samoa got a lucky try.

For the lineout the same thing was happening the irish lineout throughout.

@taniwharugby The game is a bit weird in England. Genuine rugby supporters are fine and just as good as anywhere (despite the PI nonsense) but there plenty of part-time supporters who can be a pain in the arse and think everyone else cheats.

Cornwall, thankfully, is a bit like Wales and rugby has deep roots here. Imagine they'll be as pissed off with Sexton as we are.

Here's the decision on that red card:

    Zach Mercer red card dismissed

The Montpellier HĂ©rault Rugby No 8, Zach Mercer, has had the red card shown to him during his club’s Heineken Champions Cup, Round of 16 match against the Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park, dismissed following an independent Disciplinary Hearing.

Mercer was sent off by the referee, Andrew Brace (Ireland), in the 50th minute of the match for tackling the Exeter Chiefs back row, Christ Tshiunza, in a dangerous manner in contravention of Law 9.13.

    >Law 9.13 A player must not tackle an opponent dangerously
Under World Rugby’s Sanctions for Foul Play, Law 9.13 relating to dangerous tackling carries the following sanction entry points – Low End: 2 weeks; Mid-range: 6 weeks; Top end: 10 to 52 weeks.

An independent Disciplinary Committee comprising David Martin (Ireland), Chair, Gordon Black (Ireland) and Bogdan Zebega (Romania), viewed footage of the incident and heard evidence by video conference from Mercer, who accepted that he had committed an act of foul play but did not accept that it warranted a red card.

The committee also heard submissions from the Montpellier HĂ©rault Rugby Director of Rugby, Philippe Saint AndrĂ©, from the club’s Defence and Laws Coach, Alex Ruiz, from the club’s Team Manager, Tom Whitford, and from the EPCR Disciplinary Officer, Liam McTiernan. The club’s legal representative, Joris Loupien, was also present during the hearing.

The committee decided that although Mercer had committed an act of foul play, the tackle did not warrant a red card. The sending off was therefore dismissed and Mercer is free to play.

EPCR have the right to appeal the decision.

I still haven't watched this game and don't know the score, but judging by the fact the thread doesn't have 800 posts, Italy didn't win.

Garlands old men were fucking average too. AWJ, Tipuric and Faletau were liabilities, too slow of foot. They also aren't fit enough

I'd include Owens and North as well. But are the next tier any good? The Welsh scrum is still a liability.

Gatland's biggest mistake of this selection was not having Tompkins inloved

I'm 7 minutes into the replay and already count one high shot right in front of the AR on a taking player and the cannonball by green 7 that was actually penalised

sounds like a great cocktail-drinking game.

Ffs how is that a yellow

YC every day and twice on Sunday

Came at speed, in from the side, and hit the man late

WTF is this 'came at speed' bullshit.. saw the same thing with Brodies card

didn't realise there was a speed limit in rugby

    Wasn't a tap

Brought his full force from distance; illegally in from the side where the Irish player was unsighted so couldn't defend himself; and hit him late

That's a pretty shit thing to do and deserves a YC

Weeks later, I still can’t get it out of my head that the worst thing about all of this is that regardless of the coaching tactics, player performances and decision making is I still can’t understand how the ABs let someone turn up and insult their captain like that with no retribution.

Honestly, it’s the biggest disgrace of the lot.

That’s the first thing they need to address. Someone will probably say it again and as long as it isn’t in a RWC knockout game then I’d end the game right there and then, if you know what I mean. Have some f’n pride.

What is the law about not playing the ball he is referring too? If the ruck is over, and he is onside then why can't he go for the ball?

I thought the ruck is only over once the ball is picked up by the "halfback".
