Is it safe to assume those that were named as “Unavailable due to injury” vs France will be straight back in the squad once healthy?

Which was Aumua, Tu’ungafasi, Darry, Lakai & Perofeta.

I think it's case by case

Aumua I can see coming back in but I cannot see Perofeta coming in unless injury opens up a chance

Yep, Love has taken Perofeta's spot with his ability to cover 10.

Now he just needs a chance to play 10

All ABs should be playing NPC this weekend bar anyone carrying an injury. Play you lazy fucks, it's what you are paid to do. they've just had a fortnight off, and then it's another fortnight to the next test.

The irony is that their PUs get NZR money when the ABs can't play in the NPC due to AB commitments.

Leicester should be straight back in the squad. He killed it in France at centre and is better than all of our current wings.

            He was pants against Lions.

I'm not going to base him much off a shit invitational side who got on the piss 2/3 times during the week of.

Plus he had the unfortunate task of playing outside David Havili that day.

            Hold on.

            Leicester didn't play the Lions

He played the Boks outside PUJ for the Barbarians

It was Laumape who played 13 outside Havili vs Lions

That's true. There wasn't anything compelling in his play against the Boks at 13.

You’re right. He was average. Though I don’t think a one-off game with a make-shift side put together on a weeks notice against the World Champs undoes all he did at Toulon.

Caleb Clarke just put together a whole season of turgid rugby yet people want him to start. Leicester was better than Clarke when he left.

Look I agree that little can be made out of an end of season Barbarians match. The match didn't advocate for or against Fainga'anuku and should be ignored.

Stuff article posted this morning suggests Scott Barrett is likely to miss the 2026 SR season with his sabbatical. Apparently it’s not a sabbatical where he can play for an overseas club.

So a bit like Taylors one a couple of years back? Wouldn't be a bad idea.

@Wurzel Parker will be given 40 minutes for the Taniwha this weekend and 60 minutes against Southland in Round 2 and will be then added to the All Blacks squad

Would love to see Leroy Carter selected as a wing and halfback cover great option for a 6-2 bench split
Did a great job for Bay of Plenty last year , it’s not as if the options under Hotham are jumping out at us .

Can't wait until we can roll out a starting side of just Faingaanuku and Higgins and annihilate every other side. Should save NZR a fair bit of money too.

What with LF being incredible in a long, turgid competition and Higgins having fixed the hole in the ozone at age group level, AB rugby is safe for many years to come.

I'm not against this in principal but if Carter is to be selected as genuine halfback cover for the All Blacks then he needs to be playing halfback at Super level (or for BOP at the very least).

To be fair....Jordie wasn't playing wing at SR level when he was deemed one for the ABs 😬

@Bones know you're being facetious but that's sort of my point. Wing isn't anywhere near as specialised a position as halfback. We know what Carter can do on the wing so if Razor's want a 6/2 bench option and sees Carter as a potential asset in that from then he should be encouraging him to play halfback now.

I was actually going to float the Carter as a wing/halfback option last night - this tour seems like the perfect place to do it.

Frankly I’m not convinced by Roe or any of the other options so why not take a little bit of a risk.

                                    Pffft, don’t even need LF.

If a number 8 can make the late switch to halfback and become I world cup winner, it can't be that specialised.

@Bones I can see what you're saying. But don't you think Leicester won't see much of the ball?

                                        Neither will the opposition

I was actually going to float the Carter as a wing/halfback option last night - this tour seems like the perfect place to do it.

Frankly I’m not convinced by Roe or any of the other options so why not take a little bit of a risk.

@zedsdeadbaby Grant Williams covers both wing and halfback for the Boks
Leroy was primarily used as halfback cover for Bop last year , would start on the wing and then shift to 9 in the last 20
Carter can play 9 and offers something completely different with his pace
