Even though he’s more of a lock, a guy that I’ve always wanted to see get a crack is Naitoa Ah Kuoi. I know he’s been around the environment aswell.

Are we only allowed to pick Chiefs players at 6? We've already tried 5 other Chiefs in the last year or so

Robertson does seem desperate to show he can unearth some sort of amazing unseen talent.

The problem is he seems to be succeeding at the unseen bit.

I’d love Razor to just bite the bullet and chuck this backline out against the Wallabies (assuming Hotham is out injured again)

    1. Kyle Preston
    2. Ruben Love
    3. Leroy Carter
    4. Quinn Tupaea
    5. Leicester Fainga’anuku
    6. Will Jordan
    7. Jordie Barrett

Would like to see how Jordie would go at fullback.

Do people forget we saw how Jordie went as AB fullback? It wasn't good enough to keep him there. 😕

Jordie went to Leinster and looked truly world class.

He has reverted to Hail Mary nonsense in black again though.

I genuinely think the Allblack healing wont properly start until all 3 Barretts and Ardie are gone.

Think of the 2015 team......there were no question marks over whether our locks were locks, or locks/6's.

There was no question mark over whether McCaw was a 7 or a 6 or an 8.

There was no question mark over whether Nonu was a 12.

There was no question mark over whether Carter was a 10 or 15.

There were no question marks over who the captain was.

Now look at the Barretts and Ardie and what they do to our squad makeup......

I cant help but think about the clip of Harry Wilson in extra time against Arg last week when they had just won a penalty. Thinks for a moment, looks at his team, points directly at the corner then turns around and screams at his forwards with belief.

The guy is 25 years old, 20 something caps. Has been there through some fucking shit wallabies seasons over the past few years. Lifted the team. Not that hes the perfect player but fuck it feels like something the all blacks need. I dont know who could bring that for us, but it feels like its not there.

I feel like everyone thinks ardie is like that, but i actually dont think ardie would believe in his team as much as he just believes in himself. Jordie to be fair plays with his heart but Im not sure hes up for bossing his older brothers/older team mates around like he needs to. I dont know. Roigard really seems like that kind of no-nonsense operator and works fucking hard, but needs to keep fit for a while first.

I do think the team lacks men.

In the old sense....I know this sounds like such a dinosaur thing to say, but when I look at Reinach I see a man. When I look at Roigard I see a boy.

Same for PSDT, Etzebeth, Marx and the rest. Men.

We are an easy on the eye, well manicured, clean shaven, well spoken bunch.

Beauden Barrett has 28 more caps than Daniel Carter.

Beauden Barrett has had 2.33 Christian Cullen careers.

Beauden Barrett has 8 more caps than 2 x Israel Dagg careers.

If Beauden Barrett is ignoring the gameplan, then he should be jettisoned.

I don’t think he is though. The issue isn’t really with Beauden Barrett, is it?

I don’t care how good/average Beaudy is right now. The way I look at it, he’s going to be 37 at the RWC. Do we really want a 37 year old running the show?? NZ Rugby has never learned to move on from certain players and it’s frustrating to see.

There is not moving on, and there is not moving on.

He should have never got to 100, never mind 140.

@Jet Exactly. They’re too scared to take some risks and give some players the experience that they need, just like what Rassie has done with his 45!! man squad.

Honestly the number 1 thing I’d do against the Wallabies is start Ruben Love at 10.

When BB went off to Japan last time it should have been the end. The team is being held to ransom by Razor's selection policy and his inability to deal with Ardie and more crucially BB

It makes it even more frustrating when you see teams like the Wallabies who have players like Joseph Sua’ali’i who just turned 22 btw with 10 test caps already.

Another example, Max Jorgensen who has just turned 21 already has 13 Test Caps.

ABs have youth in their team too with experience. Sititi (23), Holland (22), Roigard (24).

The ABs aren't an old team if you take out the over 30s from the squad - Savea, S. Barrett, Tuipolotu, Taylor. ALB and McKenzie are only 30 too.

Aside from Savea and Taylor, which is of these stands above their younger counterparts? And even then, is Savea the future when compared with Sititi?

We know Roigard’s potential, but Reinach is a seasoned veteran now. That experience insulates him when things don’t go right. It means he reacts less emotionally too.

We don’t know how Roigard would fare when things aren’t going well. He may well add to the chaos rather be the cool head to navigate through it.

Plenty of young players are as they develop. Especially when they are adding weight and their bodies get used to managing that extra load. Then they work out how best to train and the rest of nutrition they need and injuries tend to reduce. Takes time though.

NZ’s issue is an over reliance on one player with a specific set of skills. In fairness, they have a decent stable of 9s in Roigard, Ratima and Hotham but are going through hell of an injury run in that position.

Aside from France, if you took your top 3 SHs out of any team, they would be similarly impacted. It is at that point that the coaches need to tweak the gameplan based on the players they actually have available, not based on the gameplan they want to play.
